Legislative Update from Representative Lily Foss.
I couldn't be prouder to be bringing HB 1316 forward in my first term. Autistic folks are being repeatedly attacked and dehumanized by authority figures who seem to long for the days of eugenics. HB 1316 restricts the collection and disclosure of an autistic person's personal data by any State agency, except in very narrow circumstances. Speaking as an autistic person myself, I want to guarantee our safety, privacy, and dignity by making sure that no one has their information shared to a federal "autism registry". Thank you so much to my cosponsors, Alice for NH, Billie Butler, and Heath Howard!
If you'd like to register your support for HB 1316, there are a few ways to do so:
-If you can't come to Concord on Wednesday to testify, you can testify remotely at https://gc.nh.gov/house/committees/remotetestimony/default.aspx
Select February 4th as the day of the hearing, Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs as the committee, and HB 1316 as the bill.
-Reach out to the members of the HHS Committee (https://gc.nh.gov/house/committees/committeedetails.aspx?id=4) and ask them to recommend HB 1316 be passed.
-Come to Concord to testify in person at the public hearing on Wednesday, February 4th, at 2:00pm. The hearing will be in Concord at 1 Granite Place, room 158.
