Wounded Knee District Council

Wounded Knee District Council Wounded Knee District Council is a Tribal Governmental entity located on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation on BIA Highway #28.

The Wounded Knee District Council are Tribal members organized under their own Constitution and By-Laws within the Constitution of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. The Wounded Knee District Council is comprised of Tribal members representing their Communities which includes: #9; #10; Spotted Owl; Wounded Knee; White Butte; White Horse Creek; Grass Creek; Crazy Horse. The Wounded Knee District Council meets

every 3rd Thursday of the month to discuss issues within the communities and/or on Tribal Council floor. The Wounded Knee District is one of (9) nine Districts organized pursuant to the Oglala Sioux Tribe which establishes boundaries, Community Action Programs (CAP) Offices to provide services. Wounded Knee District Council is comprised of 8 sub-communities who are tribal members with a Constitution and By-laws which govern them with elections of the Executive Committee. The Elections are held every 3rd thursday in April by a show of hands of the people which was suspended due to Covid-19 but is no longer at a pandemic point. Does the Wounded Knee District Council follow the Constitutional form of elections in April?
