The City of Mandeville won a statewide award for FIRST PLACE for Community Improvement for our recent Comprehensive Master Plan “Mandeville Thrives 2045” at the Louisiana Municipal Association Conference in Monroe. Congratulations to City Planning Director Cara Bartholomew and our amazing consultants with Desire Line who helped with the new Comp Plan. But the City of Mandeville won this award because of all of our residents who stepped up to participate in the Comprehensive Master Plan rewrite.

The Mayor couldn’t be in two places at once. Councilman At Large, Scott Discon and I had the Honors of accepting the award on behalf of Mandeville.

Thank you Mandeville, a city of HONORS!!!!

What a way to kick off the United States of America’s 250th Birthday! Creative Arts of St. Tammany put on an American themed variety show at North Star Theatre last night. I almost fell out when they played Neil Diamond’s Coming to America! My Mom ONLY listened to Neil Diamond growing up. The Eagles were hilarious! Grand Ol Flag brought me back to my PTA President days at Woodlake Elementary when I got the pleasure of hearing the kids sing it at Morning Meeting. The show would not have been complete without song Proud to Be an American by Lee Greenwood. Happy Fourth of July everyone!

Our crews are responding to more and more e-bike vs. vehicle crashes this summer and we want our community to be aware. Drivers are not seeing kids in time. And in most of these cases, it is preventable.

A driver at an intersection is looking for cars at 30 mph or pedestrians at 3 mph. They are not expecting an e-bike to come off a sidewalk into a crosswalk at 20 mph. Parents, please take a minute to go over the three rules with your kids. It is a quick conversation that could matter a lot.
