Fall is fast approaching, with hopefully cooler weather as well. We have so many fun activities planned for the month of September, we want to make sure you don't miss any of them.

Some of our highlights -

*Nature on the Geaux will be here with their exotic animals to learn about and touch/pet on Thursday, September 3.

* Walking with the Angels Event on Saturday, September 19th from 9-11a to honor those who have experienced loss of a child or infant.

*Field trip to Mrs. Heathers Pumpkin Patch on Friday, September 25 at 10am (this is a member favorite, year after year)

*National Car Seat Check Day to be held at the Parenting Center/Kids Konnection Park on Saturday, September 19. This is a great opportunity to make sure that your car seats are in tight enough.

*Storytime with the Library Lady on Monday, September 28 at 10:30 am.

*Pet CPR will be held at the St. Tammany Hospital on Wednesday, September 30 at 6p to teach the important skills of CPR & Choking to help save our family pets.

Good Evening…our field trip to the Coquille Splash Pad has to be cancelled due to construction happening in that park. This was brought to our attention today so we apologize for the last minute notice!!

Please come play in the air conditioning at the ParentingCenter instead!! We are open from 9a-1p as usual! Again, we are sorry for any in this has caused!!

The Pediatric Inpatient Unit and Emergency Department at St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital recently announced its recertification as a Certified Autism Center by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). ✨

To renew the credential, at least 80% of the departments’ patient-facing staff completed up-to-date training to better support, assist and care for every patient, especially autistic and sensory-sensitive individuals and their families.

And just like that school is getting ready to start, the humidity is down (for a few days anyway) and August has begun. We have an awesome month full of our usual weekly Little Learners Mondays-Wednesdays at 10am followed by our Craft & Bond time, our monthly birthday party open to everyone on August 5th at 11a, a fun fieldtrip to the Abita Springs Splash Pad on August 14th and Ballet begins again for those ages 3-4 yrs old on a couple of Thursdays a month.

Do you have a son or daughter that is getting ready to go through puberty? If so, we have two great classes that we would love to inform you about that you can attend with your child to help them understand the changes that are about to take place or are taking place within and on the outside of their bodies.

Our Birds, Bees & Me: A Talk for Girls is a free 1 ½ hour class for girls’ ages 8-13 years to talk frankly about puberty, having their monthly period and how to track it, body changes, emotional mood swings and social/relationship changes. Each participant will leave with a go bag filled with started period products. We encourage a parent or trusted adult to attend with them. This class will take place at the St. Tammany Hospital on Friday, July 31 from 1-2:30p.

Our NEW I'm Growing Up - A Talk for Boys class is a free 1-hour class is for boys ages 9-14 years to talk frankly about puberty, body changes, emotional mood swings and social/relationship changes. Parent/caregiver is encouraged to attend. Each participant will leave with a go bag with hygiene products. This class is being offered at the St. Tammany Hospital on Friday, July 31 from 1-2p.

We also have other dates and times for additional classes this fall if these classes dates/times don't work for your schedules.

We have cancelled our PET CPR class that was scheduled for tonight, Wednesday, July 22nd due to incoming weather. We want to make sure that everyone is safe, so we are going to postpone this class. We will post when we have set the new date/time. Sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused!!!!

Please join us at the Parenting Center located at 21404 Koop Dr., in Mandeville on Monday, July 27th at 10:30 a.m. as we hear an excerpt from the new book, Alana & Wyatt's Adventures: The Sully Backpack Surprise, by Dana Garrett and Dr. Sunny McDaniel. It’s about a young girl’s trip to the doctor, which can feel big… especially when something unexpected happens.

When Alana’s AAC device breaks and her foot starts to hurt, everything feels overwhelming. With her brother, Wyatt and his “camping gear,” they take a trip to the doctor’s office. With the help of a kind doctor and a special Sully Sensory Backpack filled with calming tools and step-by-step guidance, Alana learns what to expect, finds her voice, and bravely moves through her visit.

This event is open for families with children 4 years and younger (you do not have to be a member of the Parenting Center).
