Ranger Garrett had a great day yesterday morning with this amazing group of home schoolers. The kids (and their mothers) got to learn about invasive plant species and then were able to help remove some of them. They then got to turn a tree that is highly invasive into a functional walking stick. It was an absolute treat!

If you, or someone you know, may be interested in bringing small groups to the park for private educational programs, feel free to reach out to Ranger Garrett at [email protected] to schedule your trip.

We had a great time learning about plants today. As one of the “students” put it, “It’s an information overload. But that’s why I keep coming back.” Ranger Garrett shares a lot of information about so many of the plants all around our park.

If you’d like to learn more, come join us every 2nd/4th Saturday’s at 10:00 at the Visitors Center for Plants With a Purpose. No registration or extra fee required. You may want to bring a notebook. 😉

UPDATE ON SPLASH PAD

We understand that a lot of people are missing the splash pad. Please bear with us as our maintenance team continues to work on returning this cooling treasure to us, while also keeping the rest of the park functional and beautiful.

In case you missed it, TS Arthur impacted the splash pad significantly by dumping so much sediment and mud into the well that it burned up our motor and pump. We are working diligently to get it back up, but it doesn’t look like it will be done this week.

We will make updates as they come along. Thank you for your patience.
