GRANT OPPORTUNITY!

Louisiana is home to more than 400 fairs and festivals and countless outdoor events. Locals and tourists come together to celebrate the state’s vibrant offerings of food, music, history, and culture. With these events often comes a completely avoidable and solvable issue — litter. The Keep Louisiana Beautiful Greener Grounds Grant was created to support Louisiana’s large outdoor events in preventing litter and reducing waste.

Thank you for making Love the Boot Week bigger and better than ever! Over the course of nine days, 28,079 individuals dedicated a total of 77,648 hours to the removal of a record 566 tons or 1.13 million pounds of litter. If spread evenly across a standard American football field, the litter removed would form a dense layer of trash approximately 5 feet deep!

Recycling is a big part of Love the Boot Week, and this year, 9,870 plastic bottles and aluminum cans were diverted from the landfill and recycled. Volunteers also focused on community beautification, planting 1,546 trees and 4,231 plants, and refurbishing 396 gardens.

Thank you, Pontchartrain Conservancy, for caring for Louisiana's swamps and protecting our coast. 👏

🌱💚Over the weekend, an amazing group of volunteers helped us pot 1,300 cypress saplings at our Bucktown Nursery. These young trees will spend the next year growing in our nursery before being planted as part of our swamp restoration program. Every sapling represents a step toward restoring and protecting our coastal ecosystems.

We are so grateful for the support of our volunteers — we truly could not do this important work without you. Thank you for helping us make a lasting impact! 🌎

A big thank you to Altrusa of Thibodaux for supplying us with 23 ‘Life on the Bayou’ coloring books at conference! Our Club added crayons, and together these fun items were donated to the preschool at Rolling Hills Community Church in South Nashville for their VBS program.

We love partnering together to support children in our communities and help make summer a little brighter! ☀️🖍️📚
