❤️ TODAY IS THE DAY — LET’S SHOW UP FOR THE ALLEN FAMILY! ❤️

Today, our community has an opportunity to do what small towns do best: take care of our own.

From 11:00 AM–2:00 PM at The Lighthouse Church Fellowship Hall, there will be a benefit dinner for Zachary Allen and her family as she awaits a kidney transplant.

Come grab a good meal, make a donation, and most importantly, help remind this family that they aren’t walking through this alone.

Every donation goes directly to Zachary and her family to help with medical expenses. Whether you stay for lunch, pick up a plate, give a little, or give a lot, it all matters.

💙 We hope to see a BIG turnout today. Mangum has proven time and time again that when one of our families needs us, we show up.

📍 The Lighthouse Church Fellowship Hall
🕚 TODAY | 11:00 AM–2:00 PM

We’re proud to support our local fire departments by providing firefighter rehab during incidents like these. 🚑🔥

Rehab is an important part of keeping firefighters safe, especially while working for extended periods in extreme heat. It includes providing hydration and cooling, checking vital signs, and monitoring firefighters to make sure they are recovering appropriately and their vitals are within safe limits before returning to duty.

Taking a few minutes for rehab helps make sure the men and women working hard to protect our communities can continue doing their jobs safely.

Great teamwork by all of the departments and agencies involved today! ❤️🚒

🚨 UPDATE — TRAINING POSTPONED 🚨

Due to area first responders currently being out on an active fire, tonight’s MCI training has been postponed. We will update with a new date as soon as it is rescheduled to keep everyone informed.

Please keep all of our first responders in your thoughts and prayers as they continue working in this extreme heat. ❤️🚒🚑

🚨 PSA — MANGUM COMMUNITY! 🚨

Just a heads-up so nobody thinks something has gone terribly wrong behind the EMS station tonight. 😂

Greer County EMS will be conducting a simulated Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) training beginning at approximately 6:00 PM today.

📍 The alleyway behind the Greer County EMS station on Pigg Street will be CLOSED to all traffic while the training is in progress. Please do not attempt to drive through the area.

During the exercise, you may hear screaming, yelling, loud noises, sirens, radio traffic, and plenty of controlled chaos. We will also have simulated patients with realistic-looking injuries. This is all part of the training — there is NO actual emergency and no one is really injured.

We know when something is happening around town, everybody likes to take a little drive by and see what’s going on. 👀😂 If you do happen to be in the area, please use extra caution and give us plenty of room. We will have actors, medics, firefighters, and other first responders actively participating in the exercise, and their safety — along with the safety of our community — is our priority.

This training gives our responders the opportunity to practice how we would manage a large-scale emergency before we’re ever faced with the real thing.

The area will be cleaned up following the exercise, and the alleyway will be reopened as soon as the training is complete.

Thank you, Mangum, for your patience, cooperation, and for helping us give our crews a safe place to train! 🚑🚒

🚨 Have you ever wondered how it all works when a disaster happens? 🚑🚒

When there are more patients than available responders and resources, how do crews decide where to start? How do they care for as many people as possible while additional help is still on the way? 🤔

That’s exactly what we worked on today!

Greer County EMS hosted a S.A.L.T. Triage Course with Greer County Emergency Management, Granite Fire Department, and the EMT class Greer County EMS is hosting through Southwest Tech. 🩺🚑

🧂 S.A.L.T. = Sort • Assess • Lifesaving Interventions • Treatment/Transport

It gives responders an organized way to quickly evaluate multiple patients, identify who needs immediate care, perform lifesaving interventions, and use the resources available as efficiently as possible.

🌾 In rural Oklahoma, that matters.

We are incredibly fortunate to have wonderful neighboring agencies that provide mutual aid when we need it. ❤️🚒🚑 But distance is distance — extra ambulances, firefighters, law enforcement, and other resources aren’t always just around the corner.

That means the responders who arrive first need to know how to organize the chaos, work together, and make the most of the people and equipment available until more help arrives.

Today started in the classroom and then things got FUN. 😏🔥 Participants moved into hands-on triage exercises where they had to quickly evaluate patients, assign the correct triage category and make decisions against the clock! ⏱️🚨

A big THANK YOU to Lizzy Woods with the MERC for spending the day with us and teaching the course! ❤️👏

And thank you to everyone who took time out of a busy schedule to train together. Good disaster response isn’t about one agency — it’s about neighbors learning how to work as one team when our communities need us most. 🤝❤️

👀 And we’re not done yet…

🚨 Wednesday = MOCK DISASTER TRIAGE! 🚨

Our medics, EMT students and area emergency agencies will put what they’ve learned into action. We’ll share pictures and videos so you can see a little of what happens behind the scenes when responders prepare for the “what if.” 🎥📸

Because we can’t make help magically arrive faster… 😅
but we CAN train to use every minute wisely until it does. 🚑⏱️❤️
