As the time of my departure nears, I will reflect back on the last five years in my life as the Director of the Greer County Chamber of Commerce in a very enjoyable fashion. I cannot begin to say THANK YOU to many, many people. Continued from last week: Evette Hamilton, Glynadee Edwards, Joy Grant, and Marsha Griswold have been my constant support system. What ever I needed, they supplied, with a smile on their face, Thank You! Sharon, Shirley, and Casey at our two papers have continuously supplied their services and support and have been my editors for this weekly article. (A big job by itself) All three banks have helped and especially the gang at 1st National that are always there at our annual Ozark Trail Car Show and our Hometown Christmas Day at Mangum. Tyler Smith took over the car show when our dear friend, G.W. Sheward, passed and is steady and loyal. T.A. Allen has been tremendous in letting us use his building on Jefferson Street, thank you. All three cities (Granite, Mangum, and Willow) have generously let us use their facilities to host our annual banquet at no charge……a big savings. Well………I have next week to remember all the others that have helped and I will try to get them in.
Mangum had a “large time” last week with their graduation and Alumni Celebrations. The weather even cooperated and we hope for the same in Granite this coming week end. Again we ask for safety in all the traveling for our people.
The Welcome Center/Chamber Office will be open from 9:00 AM till 12 Noon on most weekdays. If you need us any other times leave a message on our phone (782-2444) and we will get back with you as soon as possible. If you are reserving the Welcome Center for an activity please come by (at least a week in advance) and fill out a form. I sometimes forget who is scheduled to use our facilities and we are eager for you to use them.
