Over the weekend, we had the pleasure to honor some members of our community who have served for our country. We had the opportunity to unveil our Hometown Heroes banners displayed at Caemmerer Park in Albertson to honor the brave veterans and our neighbors from Albertson and Roslyn Heights. Thank you for your service and endless bravery. We are forever grateful for all you do. I also want to thank your families and friends who support you along the way and for showing up for this wonderful event.

Last week, we saw a huge milestone in the Town of North Hempstead. What began as an initiative in 2022, we were able to start a project where we collect oyster shells from various locations that will eventually play a key role in the growth of new oysters in our waters. The collection of shells started in May of 2025. A year later, our first collection was ready!

Thank you to Manhasset Bay Yacht Club, Louie’s in Port Washington, and Matteo’s of Roslyn for participating in this project to make a difference! From these three locations, we were able to collect more than 7,000 pounds of shells! Another thank you to all those involved who helped us make this possible. It is so important and wonderful to see our community come together to help make a change.

Exciting changes are happening around District 2! I am proud to continue unveiling our new black-and-white street signs, bringing a fresh, modern look to our community while adding a little something special to the neighborhood we all call home. A big thank you to Supervisor Jennifer DeSena and Republican Leader Ed Ra for partnering with us to help make this project possible. We look forward to continuing these improvements together and making The Town of North Hempstead an even better place to live, work, and raise a family!

We had also honored some of our first responders, who ensure that our community is safe and sound. It was a joy to celebrate alongside so many members of our community. Thank you to everyone who made this night possible!

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of attending the Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy Community Projects Showcase. High Schoolers and Middle Schoolers came together to showcase their community-centered projects to share what they learned and to celebrate their impact. It was wonderful to see our future leaders come together and make a change for their communities! We are looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish in the future.
