Pollinator populations, including the beautiful monarch butterfly, are in decline due in part to habitat loss, fragmentation, climate change, use of pesticides, and invasive plants. The eastern monarch butterfly population has declined by more than 80% over the past two decades. You can help these invaluable species by incorporating simple practices that benefit pollinators and the environment in your own landscape. This includes reducing or eliminating pesticide use, planting native plants, and managing invasive species. Any community member that maintains a landscape, including residents, businesses, schools, non-profits and places of worship, can take the pledge!
