Over our 50-year history, the Junior Lifeguard Program has grown from 150 to 4000 boys and girls. Classes take place along the 72-mile LA County coastline, from Cabrillo Beach to Zuma, and on Catalina Island. By participating in this program, your children join a proud tradition that is nationally recognized for its high-quality instruction, outstanding athletes, and innovative training. For an Emergency dial 9-1-1. *Account not monitored 24/7* Account maintained by the LA County Fire Dept. Lifeguard Division, Junior Lifeguard Program. Our program offers instruction in water safety, swimming, body surfing, paddling, surfing, physical conditioning, competition skills, first aid, CPR and rescue techniques. The participants are grouped by age: the 9-11 year olds are in the C Group, the 12-13 year olds make up the B Group, and the 14-17 year olds are the A Group. The depth and format of instruction is dependent upon the age and skill level of each group. Junior Lifeguards who successfully complete the program will receive both a Certificate of Completion and an official LA County Junior Lifeguard Patch.
