A huge thanks to 406 Brewing who hosted the Give Big Kickoff Party yesterday and allowed us and other Manhattan non-profits to set up a table to provide awareness for our organizations.

Last year, with the generous donations during Give Big, Manhattan Fire was able to purchase 2 new sets of bunker gear at a cost of $3,500 each!

This year, a possible purchase with money received during this event, would be to obtain new SCBAs or air packs. This is a vital piece of equipment used especially during structure fires. The cost of a pack, air bottle, and mask is around $5,000!

This year, Manhattan Volunteer Fire Department is once again participating in Give Big Gallatin Valley. This event takes place April 30-May 1. Last year, your generous donations allowed us to buy two new complete sets of bunker gear to replace old, used gear. With several new firefighters, this helped upgrade our gear and better equip our volunteers!

There is always a need for new equipment as current equipment gets used often!

Please consider giving to the Manhattan Volunteer Fire Department during the 2026 Give Big event!

After 30 hours of being on scene, Manhattan Fire completed the mop up on the fire east of town and at Central Park Saturday evening. However, the work was not over. Hoses had to be cleaned, dry ones had to be reloaded, trucks had to be fueled, etc.

Sunday, MVFD was dispatched once again to this area for a potential hotspot. As a precautionary measure, the area was once again saturated with water to mitigate any further rekindling of the fire.

Our volunteers are great and we appreciate the time they selflessly give.

Just a reminder: you must purchase a burn permit if you plan to burn at this time.

Even with a burn permit, please check the weather forecast for potential winds, low humidity, etc. that could lead to fires getting out of control.

Manhattan fire has responded to two more fires yesterday. One fire required multiple agencies to respond for mutual aid. Manhattan Fire was on scene through the night continuing into today.

Be safe!
