We are proud we were able to help in this chain of paying it forward.
Today, the members of the Belvue Township Fire Department were proud to pay it forward. Recently, our department was generously donated a 2007 Type 6 wildland engine — a tremendous upgrade for our community and responders.
In keeping with the fire service tradition of neighbors helping neighbors, we are honored to donate our former 1993 brush unit to the Lost Springs Volunteer Fire Department to help replace their current 1978 unit.
While the 1993 truck faithfully served Belvue Township for many years, we are grateful it will continue serving another rural Kansas community instead of sitting unused. Rural fire departments understand the importance of making the most of every piece of equipment, and we’re proud this apparatus will continue protecting lives and property.
This donation was facilitated through the Kansas Forest Service surplus donation program, and Sebastian Wendel did an outstanding job helping identify a department with a genuine need for the apparatus. We appreciate the work that goes into ensuring resources continue serving rural communities across Kansas.
A huge thank you again to everyone who helped make our replacement apparatus possible, including our partners at the Fire Coordinator’s Office, County Commission, and Blue Township Fire Department.
This is what the fire service is all about — supporting one another and strengthening communities together.
