Calling all of Manhattan!! It's finally here! This weekend is the 3rd Annual Wabash right here in Manhattan at the Memorial Stadium. Please come and support the Sunflower Children's Collective and all the kiddos that we serve right here in our community. There will be food trucks, face painting, kids crafts, a beer garden and of course our main event the K-State Band is putting on a show just for us!!! This year will be our best yet!!! You won't want to miss it! Oh and did I mention there is a silent auction with tons of cool stuff that's already up on the event site. Come out and support the Sunflower Children's Collective and be a change in a child's life! Can't wait to see you there!!

We are so thankful for our forensic nurses who provide an invaluable service to children, youth, and adults in our community.

Congratulations to our nurses, Sarah & Kaylee, for passing their IAFN SANE-A Certification exam!!

Nurses who achieve SANE certification demonstrate the highest standards of forensic nursing. Becoming certified ensures peers, employers, patients, and SANES themselves that they have developed the knowledge and expertise to provide comprehensive, compassionate care to survivors of sexual assault.

We are so thankful for the Manhattan Forensic Nursing Department and the care they take of the kids and adults in our community. The Manhattan area had been without a pediatric forensic nursing department for many years and we are so grateful the program is up and running! We can attest to the incredible compassion, sensitivity, and professionalism of all of their nurses.

Our team has been working to create a safe and comfortable space for our patients. We are all trauma-informed trained, and the comfort and safety of our patients is a top priority!

These three agencies support child victims of abuse and neglect in our Manhattan community by appointing CASAs to child-in-need-of-care cases, forensic interviews of alleged sexual abuse cases, and by offering supervised visits and observations for families mandated by the court system.

Please join Stepping Stones Child Advocacy Center for a presentation with Kathy Ostrom on Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) on Wednesday, October 5th from 12pm-1:30pm on Zoom. TBRI is a therapeutic model that trains caregivers to provide effective support and treatment for at-risk children. TBRI is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. Whether you are a parent, caregiver, or professional who works with children, Trust-Based Relational Intervention can help you provide more effective support to the children in your life.
Kathy Ostrom is a TRBI practitioner helping families and children heal from trauma. Kathy has been a foster parent since 2007 and serves on the Sunflower Children’s Collective board of directors.
