This photo came in a bit late to be included in our 2025 oldest animals post but is well-deserving to be highlighted on its own! This incredible 15-year-old bull was harvested during the late rifle season in Nevada. The memories made while hunting last for a lifetime, but when you hunt as a family, it makes it that much more special.

Here’s a little info shared by the family about the hunt: “Mom drew her first Nevada bull tag for the 2025 season. It was a later hunt and we had seen the bull which we named "Caribou" earlier in the season while hunting with a friend. We hunted for a few days with mom looking for some other big bulls we had seen. With no luck, we decided to go after Caribou. He frequented a small meadow way up on top about 2 miles into the wilderness area. On the morning of Dec. 1st, I made the long hike up the backside of the mountain from where Caribou lived, while my mom, dad, and brothers came in from the south to have the right wind. My friend was also down below glassing up into the area. I spotted Caribou almost immediately after the sun came up in his favorite meadow. Dad, mom, and my brothers were still over a mile out but made short work of the distance. They crept over the hill while the bull was feeding peacefully in the sunlight at a little over 400 yards. My mom laid down, got a good rest, and dropped the bull in its tracks with a 7mm mag. When we got to the bull, we were happily surprised by the size and unique shape of the antlers. We also noticed that it was very skinny and had only one eye. It was an honor to be part of harvesting such an old monarch.”
