***UPDATE*** The pig has been reunited with its owner.

We’ll make the joke before someone else does… yes, the police found a pig.

All jokes aside, this little guy was found in the 800 block of Rife Run Road and appears to have lost his way home.

If you recognize him or know where he belongs, please contact the Police Department so we can reunite him with his owner.

And yes… we’re trying our best to avoid the obvious “hogging the road” jokes. 🐽😂

As the new school year begins, please remember that our roads will be busier with school buses, students, parents, and pedestrians.

Please slow down, stay alert, and be patient around school buses. Never pass a school bus that is stopped with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended. Stop and remain stopped until it is safe and the bus has resumed travel.

Let’s all do our part to protect our children and keep our community safe as we start another school year.

Another reminder to join us for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Manheim Farm Show Complex, 502 E. Adele Avenue.

National Night Out is a great opportunity to spend an evening with your neighbors, meet your local first responders, and strengthen the partnerships that help keep our community safe.

There will be something for everyone to enjoy, including a bounce house obstacle course, food from Piper Bells BBQ and Twisted Sister Ice Cream, coffee and snacks from Hope Served, and the chance to meet local first responders and check out their equipment and vehicles.

Several community organizations will also be on hand, including the Manheim Community Library, Girl Scouts, SPCA, Community Health and Wellness, Lancaster County Children & Youth, PA State Parole, Manheim Community Life Group, Hope Served, and Victim/Witness Services.

At 6:30 p.m., Officer Yarnell, our School Resource Officer, will present a program on the dangers of va**ng inside the Farm Show Complex.

We will also be holding our Stuff a Cruiser food drive throughout the event. Please consider bringing canned food or personal care items to help support the Manheim Central Food Pantry.

We hope you’ll join us for an evening of fun, conversation, and community. We look forward to seeing you there.

E-Bikes, Scooters & Micromobility Devices: Know Before You Ride

As e-bikes and electric scooters become more popular, we’re seeing more of them throughout our community. Before you ride, make sure you know the rules. Not all devices are treated the same under Pennsylvania law.

Here are a few things to remember:

• E-bikes are legal to ride on public roads and bike lanes if they meet Pennsylvania’s definition of an electric pedalcycle. Riders must be at least 16 years old. No driver’s license, registration, or insurance is required.

• Electric scooters (stand-up scooters) cannot be legally operated on public roadways in Pennsylvania. They are currently limited to private property.

• Motor scooters (moped-style) require registration, insurance, and the proper class of driver’s license to operate on public roads.

• Ride safely. Use lights when riding after sunset, wear a helmet whenever possible, and stay alert for pedestrians, vehicles, and other cyclists.

• Ride sober. Just like operating a motor vehicle, you can face DUI charges when operating certain micromobility devices while impaired.

Knowing the difference between these devices helps keep everyone safe and avoids unnecessary citations.

Take a moment to review the Pennsylvania Micromobility Fact Sheet below before heading out on your next ride. Stay safe, be courteous, and help make our roads and trails safer for everyone.
