Junior Police Academy Recap: Day 3

Day three of the 2026 Manheim Borough Junior Police Academy was filled with hands-on demonstrations from several specialized law enforcement units.

The cadets started the day with PT before learning from the Northwest Regional Police Department Drone Unit, seeing how drones are used to assist with searches, crash scenes, and other public safety missions.

They then met with the Lancaster County SERT Team to get an up-close look at the equipment, training, and teamwork required for specialized operations, followed by an impressive demonstration from the Bureau of Police Lancaster City, PA K9 Unit that showcased the strong partnership between handler and police dog.

The day wrapped up with a crime scene investigation demonstration, where cadets learned how evidence is documented, collected, and processed using the tools and techniques of crime scene technicians.

It was another great day of learning, and we appreciate all of our partner agencies for taking the time to share their knowledge and experience with our cadets.

**Junior Police Academy Recap: Day 2**

Day two of the 2026 Manheim Borough Junior Police Academy was another great day of learning and hands-on experience.

The cadets started the morning with PT before getting a brief introduction to speed timing and traffic enforcement. They then put their skills to the test by participating in scenario-based traffic stops run by Ofc. Horne, where they practiced communicating with drivers, working as a team, and making observations while experiencing some of the challenges officers face during everyday interactions.

We then shifted to tactical medicine taught by Ofc. Imler, where the cadets learned basic life-saving techniques and practiced applying tourniquets. They gained hands-on experience with the equipment and learned how important quick action and proper training can be during an emergency.

The cadets continued to show confidence, teamwork, and a willingness to learn throughout the day, making for another successful day at the 2026 Manheim Borough Junior Police Academy.

**Junior Police Academy Recap: Day 1**

We kicked off the 2026 Manheim Borough Junior Police Academy with a great first day!

The cadets started the morning with PT before getting an overview of the police department and learning about the different roles and responsibilities of our officers. They also toured the station, checked out our patrol vehicles, and got a hands-on look at the equipment we use every day.

From the very beginning, the cadets brought a lot of energy, asked great questions, and were eager to learn. It was a fun way to start the week, and we were excited to see what the rest of the academy had in store. Stay tuned as we continue our day-by-day recap of the 2026 Junior Police Academy!
