Calling all crafters, makers, and scrapbookers: Our library programs are in desperate need of some creative backup.

We are gathering materials for our "Decorate a Summer Reading Tote" for our fun summer activities, and we need rubber stamps or foam stamps! Whether they are animals, letters, shapes, or whimsical designs, we need your old rubber/foam stamps to help bring our library reading totes to life.

Will you come to our rescue?
Instead of letting those gently used rubber stamps sit in a storage bin collecting dust, staring you in the face with craft guilt, give them a second life making magic at the library!

📍 Drop-off location: Bring your stamp donations right to the front circulation desk next time you visit.

P.S. Even if your crafting days are on pause, please hit SHARE! Your crafty friends, teachers, or neighbors might have a hidden stash they’ve been waiting to declutter, and your share will help us find them! 🔄🎨

For adults, summer reading isn't just about ticking boxes—it’s about finding a moment of pause and reclaiming some time for yourself. When you can’t physically escape daily life, you can always escape into a great book.
🏆This year, we’re challenging you less on how much you read, and more on WHERE you read.
🌳Let your book bring you to a quiet park bench, the comfort of your car with an iced latte, a blanket in the fresh grass to get that much-needed Vitamin D, or a picturesque spot with a scenic view of the water.
🚗Let your reading take you exactly where you want to go, without ever leaving town.

Have you ever considered taking a book to any of these places?

📖What's Inside the book:
LAIA is a Scholar living under the iron-fisted rule of the Martial Empire. When her brother is arrested for treason, Laia goes undercover as a slave at the empire’s greatest military academy in exchange for assistance from rebel Scholars who claim that they will help to save her brother from ex*****on.

ELIAS is the academy’s finest soldier— and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias is considering deserting the military, but before he can, he’s ordered to participate in a ruthless contest to choose the next Martial emperor.
When Laia and Elias’s paths cross at the academy, they find that their destinies are more intertwined than either could have imagined and that their choices will change the future of the empire itself.

How to use our “Book in A Bag”:

👜Each bag contains 6 books with the same title. (Everyone gets the same book to read)

📕📗📘We have 3 “Book Club in a Bag” presently: 1. The Woman 2. The God of the Woods 3. First Lie Wins

🙋‍♀️One person will check out the bag of books.

📆That person plans a date/time to read at home or to get together with friends in the group to read and discuss the book.

📃Each bag includes a discussion sheet filled with fun prompts to spark a great conversation about the book you just read!

📅Books will be due back in 1 month by the person who checked them out (with their library card)

Here is what's inside each book #
1. In 1965, nursing student Frankie McGrath follows her brother to Vietnam, trading her sheltered California life for the chaos of the Army Nurse Corps. But for Frankie, the war is only the beginning. The real battle is returning to a divided America that wants to forget the very heroes who sacrificed everything.

2. One missing girl. A family dynasty built on secrets. And a brother who vanished 14 years before. ⏳
This book is a masterfully woven thriller set in the Adirondacks in 1975. If you love a rich, atmospheric mystery that explores the "layered secrets" of a community, add this to your TBR immediately!

3. New name. New town. New mark: Ryan Sumner. 🎯Evie Porter works for the mysterious Mr. Smith, but this job is different. Ryan is getting under her skin, and for the first time, Evie is imagining a life that isn't a lie. To get out, she’ll have to outrun a past that’s catching up fast.
This book is a high-stakes game of cat and mouse where the only rule is to never get comfortable.

Since this is getting a lot of engagement, we recommend you call our library ahead of time to make sure the book in a bag you want is still here.

😍Hey girls! Want to meet at the Mannheim Community Library's patio and do a book club and walk with me? Here are the details:

☕There is a coffee cart called “The Unwavering Cup” in the lobby every Monday from 1-5:30 (we can make it bougie, & I heard her iced coffees are amazing)

👟We can read a chapter, walk the 20-minute walking path, and come back to discuss it.

📃There is a sheet of questions that comes with each book in a bag to talk amongst us, so we will be engaging in conversation.

📗You don’t have to know all my friends because the discussions will be mostly about the book.

🌞They have beautiful scenery, and we should really take a break anyway, right?!

🫶The most you would spend is $7, and that’s just for the coffee if you want to bring your own drink and/or snack that’s fine too!

📆There are up to 6 books in each bag, and the books will be taken home with us to set a date to meet up again and discuss the rest!

Sound Good?
