On Friday night, Manilla firefighters were joined by firefighters from Fountaintown Fire Department and Raleigh Fire Department to train on low visibility hose deployment and advancement. Teams were put in environments that were difficult to navigate and where their senses were highly compromised to simulate what they may encounter in real life emergency scenarios. This group of guys pushed one other very hard and made sure that no one went away unchallenged. The floor was miserably slick, air supplies were randomly cut off, victims were scattered among false alarms, and all of these guys exceeded expectations. Thank you to our community for supporting us and affording us these opportunities to train toward a higher level of expertise.

At 10:45 Manilla was dispatched for a barn fire in Shelby county. When crews arrived, they found the barn fully involved. Water supply was established and two attack lines were stretched from Engine 61. The fire was brought under control in fifteen minutes. No injuries were reported. Our quick response was accomplished with the help of Shelbyville Fire Department, Morristown Fire Department, Posey Township Fire Department, and Fountaintown Fire Department. Thank you very much to all of our mutual aid partners. Your assistance is always greatly appreciated.
