Our MSFU door project is back up and running! At the risk of jinxing ourselves, we wanted to post again about this exciting project 🚪 😮‍💨We’ve been working through some hiccups with the manufacturer/supplier, and our contractor has been amazing at installing once we had the doors and frames delivered 👏🏽

We have about 1/2 of our 50 doors complete, and they are still plugging away 🤞🏽

💚 2026 Feeding America Food Distribution Dates 💚🥫

Good Neighbor Services and Manistique Area Schools, in partnership with Feeding America West Michigan, will host the monthly food distributions to support our community.

📍Distribution Location:
115 N Lake Street, Manistique, MI
(Hiawatha Behavioral Health – near the Fair Building)

🕙 Time: 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM

📦 Food boxes will be collected behind Hiawatha Behavioral Health
📅 2026 Distribution Dates (Wednesdays):
• October 7
• November 4
• December 2

🚗 IMPORTANT – Directions MUST be followed to access the food truck line:
1️⃣ Turn off M-94 onto Main Street at the Schoolcraft County Sheriff’s Office and Jail
2️⃣ Travel one block on Main Street
3️⃣ Turn left onto Lake Street toward HBH and the Fair Building
4️⃣ At the HBH corner, continue straight toward the Fair Building
5️⃣ Turn right onto the small road between Cardinal Field and Water Tower Field
6️⃣ When this road meets the driveway behind the Medical Care Facility, turn right
7️⃣ Proceed to the Feeding America Food Truck location (as shown on the map)
8️⃣ Vehicles will exit by returning down Lake Street

Unfortunately, photos and information from legitimate properties listed with Grover Real Estate are being copied and used to create FAKE rental advertisements.

In a recent scam, someone even used the name of one of our agents and claimed they were the landlord. 😡

⚠️ If you see a property with a Grover Real Estate sign, watermark, or listing photos being advertised FOR RENT, please verify it BEFORE sending money, completing an application, or providing personal information.

DO NOT send money through Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, gift cards, or other payment methods to someone claiming to be the landlord without verifying the rental is legitimate.

If something doesn’t seem right, CALL US. We would much rather take a two-minute phone call and help you verify a property than see someone lose hundreds—or thousands—of dollars to a scammer.

✳️ INVITATION TO BID

The Manistique Housing Commission will receive sealed bids until September 17, 2026 at 2:00PM local Manistique Michigan time at 400 East Lakeshore Drive, Manistique, Michigan 49854.

Sealed bids to be mailed in shall be to the attention of Erin Beckman, Executive Director, 400 East Lake Shore Drive, Manistique, Michigan 49854, with the outside of the envelope marked "Sealed Bids – Parkview Estates Re-Roofing Bids", whether mailed, hand delivered or e-mailed, will not be accepted if received after the above-mentioned time and date. Faxed Bids will not be accepted. E-mailed Bids to be sent to Erin Beckman at [email protected].

It is the Bidders responsibility to verify with Owner that Bids have arrived by the required date and time. Work in general shall consist of removing existing asphalt shingles and felt to roof deck and installing new ice and water membrane, felt, fiberglass shingles and accessories for a 20 unit apartment building and associated garage. Bid received as a single lump sum bid for all work.

Plans and specifications may be examined at the office of the Architect and Manistique Housing Commission and the following Plan Rooms and Builders Exchanges: Delta County Builders Exchange, Iron Mountain-Kingsford Builders Exchange, Marquette
Builders Exchange, Traverse City Builders Exchange, Little Traverse City Association of Home Builders (Petoskey, MI).

Complete set of plans and specifications can be obtained from Architects Group Limited, 1825 South Webster Avenue, Suite 202, Green Bay, Wisconsin 54301,Telephone: 920/4321232 for a refundable deposit of $25.00 and a nonrefundable mailing fee of $15.00. All plan deposit checks shall be made out to the Manistique
Housing Commission. Nonrefundable mailing fee shall be made payable to Architects Group Limited. Plans and Specifications obtained electronically thru Architects Group Limited are no charge.
Bid Form, Bid Bond, Form of NonCollusive Affidavit, and Representations, Certifications and Other Statements of Bidders forms shall be submitted with bid. Failure to do so may be cause for rejection of bid. Copies of the above-mentioned forms are in the
specification book for contractors to make copies of. Written narratives for Section 3 and minority employment to also be furnished with the bid. A bid bond of 5% is required to be submitted with the bid for Bids over $25,000.00 with the bonding company listed in Circular 570. See instructions to bidders for bond requirements. The successful bidder will be required to furnish Material Labor Payment Bond and Performance Bond in the
amount of 100% of the Bid along with Insurance Certificate before commencing work.

Each Bidder shall comply completely with Instructions to Bidders and General conditions of the Contract for Construction. This shall include evidence of an Affirmative Action Program, including women and minorities. Follow Executive Order 11246.

Contractors shall comply with minimum salaries listed in the wage rates included in the specification. The Manistique Housing Commission reserves the right to reject any or all Bids or to waive any informalities in the Bidding. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days subsequent to the opening of bids without the consent of the Manistique Housing Commission. The requirements of Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968 apply to this project and to the greatest extent feasible, contractors shall fulfill their obligation to utilize lower income residents as trainees and/or employees. See Supplementary Instructions to Bidders and General Conditions of the Contract for Construction, Article 40, and Division 1-U regarding their responsibilities.
