Last night, the Manito Park Board held a special meeting to discuss the Manito Aquatic Center. We want to provide our community with an update and thank you for the incredible patience, grace, and support you've shown during this challenging time.

The Board discussed several important topics, including:

πŸ’§ Drain Cover Replacement
We are moving forward with an Illinois-approved engineer to obtain the required state permits and begin the process of replacing the expired drain covers. This is the next step toward safely reopening the pool, and we will continue to keep our community informed throughout the process.

10 & 25 Swim Passes
All 10-visit and 25-visit swim passes will automatically transfer to the 2027 swim season. We will keep all passes on file, and your passes will be honored at the 2026 pricing, allowing you to lock in this year's rates even though admission prices are expected to increase slightly in 2027.

Family pass holders have two options:
β€’ Transfer your 2026 family pass to 2027 as a $100 credit toward next year's family pass. For example, if the 2027 family pass is $250, you would pay just $150.
β€’ Request a $100 refund. We anticipate beginning to issue refund checks next week as we work with the Park Board to obtain additional checks.

I will begin reaching out to all family pass holders starting Sunday afternoon to discuss these options and answer any questions you may have.

This season has been an emotional one for all of us. We went from what was shaping up to be one of the strongest financial seasons to an unexpected closure. We know this affected so many people...families who lost a favorite summer tradition, children who missed making memories with friends, teenagers who lost summer jobs while saving for college, and a community gathering place that suddenly became quiet.

We miss seeing your smiling faces. We miss hearing kids laugh from the slide. We miss giving our teens a place to work, but if there's one thing this community has shown, it's resilience.

We will continue working diligently, and we are committed to coming back stronger than ever. Thank you for standing beside us through this challenging season. Your kindness and encouragement mean more than you know.

πŸ’™ Concession Update πŸ’™

We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support we've received over the past week. So many people reached out asking what they could purchase from our concession inventory to help us recover some of the costs from this unexpected shutdown. Your kindness has been overwhelming.

This season, we welcomed patrons not only from Manito, but also from Mason City, Pekin, East Peoria, Tremont, Morton, and many other surrounding communities. To see so many people rally around us during this difficult time has meant more than words can express.

A very special thank you to American Legion Hill-Palmer Post 561 here in Manito for purchasing all of our chips and hot dogs for your bingo nights. Your generosity and community support truly mean the world to us.

We also want to thank East Peoria JFL for purchasing all of our frozen food for your program. We are so appreciative that these items will continue to benefit local families and youth.

Our remaining concession inventory will be transferred to the Forman Center to be used for upcoming athletic programs, ensuring as little as possible goes to waste.

Every kind message, encouraging comment, and act of support has given us hope. While this season ended much sooner than any of us expected, you've reminded us why this community is so special.

Thank you for standing beside us. We are already looking forward to making 2027 the best pool season yet! πŸ’™β˜€οΈπŸŠ

πŸ“’ Community Update from the Manito Aquatic Center

We want to thank everyone for your continued patience, understanding, and support during this difficult time.

At this time, we are unable to make any decisions regarding Family Passes or 10- and 25-Swim Passes until the Manito Park Board has the opportunity to meet and vote on the matter. The Park Board meets on the second Wednesday of each month, so we expect to have more information following their August meeting. We appreciate your patience as we work through this process.

Also, we had just completed a restock of our concessions before the unexpected closure, and we'd love to see these items put to good use. If you own or operate a business, concession stand, or organization that may be interested in purchasing items, please send us a message.

We know this has been frustrating for many families, and it has been just as heartbreaking for our staff. Thank you for your grace, kindness, and continued support as we navigate the next steps together. We will continue to share updates as soon as information becomes available. πŸ’™

πŸ’™ Important Announcement from the Manito Aquatic Center πŸ’™

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we announce the 2026 pool season has come to an abrupt end.

This news has come as a complete shock to our team, and it is one of the hardest announcements we have ever had to make.

Over the past several days, we have worked diligently with the Illinois Department of Public Health inspectors and a local engineer in every effort to keep our pool open. Unfortunately, we learned that required work from the 2025 season was never completed, and our drain covers have expired. Because of state regulations, the replacement process requires engineering approval, permits, inspections, and several months to complete. As much as we wish there were another option, our hands are tied.

We do not know why this process was not completed last year, but we have already begun the necessary steps to ensure everything is in place for the 2027 season.
While we are thankful to be planning ahead, it does not lessen the heartbreak we feel for this season. Our team poured their hearts into making 2026 the best season the Manito Aquatic Center has ever had. Thanks to all of you, we experienced incredible support, record attendance, and so many unforgettable memories. This is not how we wanted our season to end.

Over the coming days, we will begin contacting families with scheduled pool rentals to process refunds. We are also working closely with the Park Board to determine how swim passes and other remaining season matters will be handled. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding as we work through these next steps. We are still processing this ourselves and want to make thoughtful decisions for everyone involved.

We will continue to update the public as soon as we have more information. A meeting with our team is scheduled for Saturday morning, and we will share any updates afterward.

On a personal note, my heart is brokenβ€”for the children and young adults who counted on these summer jobs, for the families whose traditions were cut short, and for every person who found joy at our pool. The Manito Aquatic Center has always been more than just a public swimming pool. It has been a place where friendships were made, laughter echoed across the water, children built confidence, and our community came together.

Thank you for the overwhelming love, encouragement, and support you have shown us this season. We promise to do everything we can to come back stronger in 2027.

Until then, thank you for being part of our pool family. πŸ’™

Good evening, water friends!!

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the Manito Aquatic Center has been temporarily closed due to an issue with our drain covers. We are actively working with the inspector and a local engineer to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

We are hopeful that we will be able to reopen, but we likely won't know the outcome until tomorrow or Wednesday. We will keep everyone updated as soon as we have more information.

If you have a pool party booked, I will be reaching out to you personally this week. If the pool is not open on the date of your scheduled party, you will receive a full refund.

This is incredibly heartbreaking for our entire team. We have poured our hearts into making this season a success, and we're devastated by this unexpected setback. We truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support during this time.

Please keep us in your thoughts and send all the positive vibes our way. We are doing everything we can to get back to serving our community as soon as possible. πŸ’™

It feels unreal to be posting this, but we are officially FULLY BOOKED for pool rentals for the rest of the season! πŸ’™ We will not be taking any additional reservations.

While we're a little sad we won't be able to add new pool rental reservations this summer, we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support you've shown the Manito Aquatic Center. Let's finish this season strong, water friends! πŸ’¦ And don't forget to come hungry…..our concession kings and queens are ready to serve up all your favorites!
