STAGE 1 Burn Ban - Crystal Park - Still In-Place:

Rain …. Glorious Rain !!! There are Smiles on all firefighters in our region!!! Desperately needed moisture is wetting our forest!!
Crystal Park Residents, you may see the news that El Paso County and Colorado Springs have removed their Burn Restrictions… but please remember, Crystal Park HOA rules still have a de facto, permanent Stage 1 Burn Ban in-place. Even with this wonderful moisture, please continue to keep us safe and comply with all standing Fire Safety rules !!
An additional note: with the rain comes temperature drops. And with that, many neighbors are firing up their fireplaces to heat their homes. Initial startups usually come with a ‘first fire’ smoke plume and smell. Keep an eye on your neighbors and yourselves!! Chimney fire safety/prevention is critical !! As always, when in doubt call 911 !

ANNUAL CRYSTAL PARK FIRE DEPARTMENT - PANCAKE BREAKFAST AND FIREWISE MEETING !!!!!!

Saturday, 10 October - 8-10am for Resident Breakfast and 10-11am for a community Firewise Meeting !!! Come join us at the CP Fire Station !!!!

We’re warming up the griddle for our Annual “Doc Terbush Firehouse Pancakes” !!!! CPFD’s Annual Open house breakfast for those we serve!!

For the Firewise meeting from 10 to 11 we have a few guest speakers lined up (tentatively):
a. Ms. Mindy Schulz - Deputy Executive Director for the Pike’s Peak Planning/Development Board - Briefing the new implementation of the International Fire Code (IFC) and Colorado Wildland Resiliency Code (CWRC). Both which went into effect on 1 July 2026.
b. Mr. Ryker Street - Private consultant on Fire Mitigation - Briefing ‘Tips and Tricks on Mitigating your home.
c. Our very own Chief Stephen Leander, CPFD - Briefing the Crystal Park Evacuation and Shelter in Place Plans - a primer for new residents.

Come one, come all…. A grab a neighbor in the Park to enjoy some time with your Fire Department!!

And this year we remember CSFD’s Captain Patrick Rogacki, who we lost this year to WTC ground zero related cancer after his response to New York City 25 years ago!

Adopt a Cistern? Not a ‘thing’ , yet! But…. You can help us - help you!!! If our residents can clear access and visibility to our Crystal Park fire cisterns, we’ll do our part to keep them filled and in ready status!
And… under the newly adopted International Fire Code, Cisterns will be treated like Fire Hydrants!!! Blocking access, and parking in front of, or over our cisterns will result in tickets issued by the El Paso County Sheriff!!!

A huge shout out to our friends and comrades in the fire service at Ellicott Fire Department!!! A gratuitous donation of a utility vehicle that was excess too their needs was a major upgrade for CPFD! Our newly commissioned ‘950’ will increase our Crystal Park capabilities!! Transport to training, moving needed response equipment and Command and Control are all better today!!! Thank You Ellicott!!! Ellicott Fire Protection District

Crystal Park….. we are still in Stage II Fire Restrictions! Even though the 4th of July holiday is over… our risk of fire is not. Some additional restrictions are outlined in the CPHOA rules/regulations.

All hands on deck!!! Some of our hardest working volunteers helped do some cistern maintenance today!! With CP Forestry work last week on clearing trees and shrubs off some of our key cisterns, CPFD members (senior and junior) Topped off the tanks! Filling vital water to the brim!
Our only fire fighting water sources in Crystal Park are our lake pump in upper park, and our network of cisterns throughout our community. Any help from the residents to keep these cisterns accessible, free of obstructions, and blocking access by parked vehicles will help protect all of us!! Treat these as our CP fire hydrants!!
