Just a quick update.
We have raised $300 so far along with the donated materials which are worth over $700. still a long way to go. We have applied for a grant from TC energy which has a location on Nebo road. I have not gotten a response from them yet. If that falls through we will continue fundraising but will postpone the class until funds can be allocated. We wont stop until we have the class. Thank you for all of the support.

Did you know there is only one Urban search and rescue team in Kentucky? They are a awesome resource to have and Its members are spread out throughout Kentucky to aid in response times but they still have to get ready to deploy and have travel time. The early stages of an event are very time sensitive and we want to be able to be more productive and efficient with possible rescues until more resources are available. Having this class will give us the knowledge and skills to accomplish this.

With tornadoes becoming more prevalent in our area I have been researching a class for first responders that caters more towards tornado response. I have reached out to State Fire Rescue Training as well as spoken with State and local officials in Emergency Management and they have advised in short, that they are unable to assist in providing any sort of class.I turned to sourcing a 3rd party to host a class and have found a class that I think will greatly benefit everyone in Hopkins county, and even neighboring counties. It is a Structural Collapse Awareness training. This class will teach us how to better set up and utilize an incident command structure as well as rescue techniques for people that get trapped inside their homes. The class is open to 24 students and will consist of 25 hours of training with 20 hours being hands-on skills. This class will be available to any First Responders in Hopkins county and if spaces are available we will open it up to neighboring counties.
