For our second to last ever Cadet Meeting, the Manitowoc Police Cadets invited the Two Rivers Police Cadets to join us at Urban Battlefield, in Green Bay, for some laser tag fun. It was an intense 90 minutes, that left everyone tired and sweaty.

It comes with great regret to inform everyone that the Manitowoc Police Department has decided to end their Police Cadet Program, at the end of this year. We will not be taking any more applications, and will have limited meetings through the end of the year.

The Manitowoc Police Cadets will like to thank all those who have supported our program, in the past. Our program has helped numerous Cadets/Explorers achieve their life goals of getting into the law enforcement field, and providing service to the communities, they live in.

I personally would like to thank our Mentors/Advisors, who over the years have helped me to provide educational experiences for the Cadets/Explorers. You helped provide insight into law enforcement, in a fun learning environment.

Finally, I would like to thank all the Cadets/Explorers that I have taught throughout the years. Some of you I have taught from Freshman in high school, all the way to getting hired by your first departments. My goal was to provide you with the information to not only know if you want to have a career in law enforcement, but to provide mentorship as you navigated through our program. I wish you all the best of luck.

On 7-10-25, the Manitowoc Police Cadets were taught how to clear buildings, tactically, and the importance of the use of cover to protect themselves. Officers Schleis and Draxler showed the Cadets how to properly clear stairs, and enter rooms. Officer Schleis also brought his partner, K-9 Rolo, and did some K-9 demonstrations.

On 7-11-25, several of our Manitowoc Police Cadets helped out Crime Prevention Sgt. Krock with the bike safety event at Walmart. As you can see, our Cadets made sure the course was safe, before any kids tried it out.

This last weekend, the Manitowoc Police Cadets participated in the Milwaukee Police Department Public Safety Cadet/Explorer Challenge. Cadets Olson and Ross competed in the following Events:

Tactical Medical
Crisis Intervention
Disturbance Call
Traffic Stop
Use of Force Simulator (MILO)
Agility Course

These events were challenging and quite a bit to handle. The included pictures also show the Tactical Medical response, where the Cadets were headed to a Mall Shooting. The included video shows the chaos that they entered. Upon entering they were rushed by numerous people, fleeing the area, and rushing the Cadets. They had to make their way through the crowd, secure the area (they found a second shooter), then start rendering aid to the wounded. This was a very chaotic scene, and we are proud of our Cadets for going head-on into that chaos and getting the job done.

We have two more competitions, this year (Fox Valley Competition, and Brown County Competition). With each competition, our Cadets gain valuable knowledge to use towards their possible careers in law enforcement.

With the school year coming to an end, the Manitowoc Police Cadets would like all graduating 8th graders (who are 14 years old) to know that you are eligible to apply to the Manitowoc Police Cadet Program!
The Manitowoc Police Cadet Program provides 14-20-year-olds an opportunity to learn what it takes to be a police officer. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays, of the month, at the Manitowoc Police Department from 6:30-8:30pm. While in the Police Cadets, you will learn about how Police Officers use present day tactics, and cutting edge equipment, to help maintain peace and combat crime. You will get first hand training, with current police staff, on topics like: Drunk Driving investigations, Crime Scene management, Public Disturbances, Room Clearing, and Fire Arms proficiency, to name a few topics.
Police Cadets can earn community service hours, towards graduation, by helping officers out with parade duties, special summer events, and with the Shop with a Cop Program.
If you are interested in the learning more about the Cadet Program, you can contact Capt. Jeremy Kronforst at [email protected]

Last night, the Manitowoc Police Cadets learned about conducting traffic stops. The first half consisted of learning how to conduct the traffic stop, why we position squads a certain way to make our approach to the car safer, as well as proper introduction to the driver, giving the reason for the stop, and gathering information. The Cadets then made the decision on whether to give warnings or citations for each scenario violation. The Cadets also learned how to activate the squad lights, position the spotlight, and call out to Dispatch. Below is a video of one of the traffic stops, that we conducted in our lower parking lot. Unfortunately, there isn't any audio to go with the video.

On February 27th, the Manitowoc Police Cadets had learned about Impaired Driving investigations and how to place someone through the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST). They got a chance to put each other through the Walk and Turn Test and One Leg Stand Test, while the their test subject wore "drunk goggles". The following videos are of some of those attempts. An extra special thanks to Officers Draxler and Lindlbauer, along with Detective Schuettpelz for helping the Cadets administer the tests.

This last weekend, the Manitowoc Police Cadets competed at the WLEEAA state conference at the Chula Vista, in Wisconsin Dells. Our teams were two teams out of 35 teams competing in the following events: Crash Investigation (vehicle contacts), Crisis Intervention, Tactical Medical, Incident Command, Force Options, and Air Soft course. Even though our Cadets didn't place in any of the events, they tried their hardest and took home valuable experience. We are especially proud of how well our Cadets did on the Incident Command, and Crisis Intervention events.
