Reminder to our Rotary members that we will not have a meeting today, May 21, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day weekend.

As we enjoy time with family and friends, we also pause to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is a time of gratitude, reflection, and remembrance for the sacrifices that have made our freedoms possible.

The spirit of Memorial Day connects deeply with Rotary’s values of service, community, and putting others above self. May we continue to serve our communities with the same spirit of compassion, dedication, and commitment to others.

Wishing everyone a safe, meaningful, and restful Memorial Day weekend!

A big thank you to Lisa from Shoreline Hometown Credit Union for joining us as our special guest speaker at Rotary last week!

We appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the growing risks of fraud and scams affecting individuals and communities every day. Your presentation on money mule scams, skimming, payment fraud, and lottery or prize scams was informative, practical, and eye-opening.

Thank you for sharing your expertise and helping us become better informed and better prepared to protect ourselves and others. We are grateful for your time and for the important work you do in our community!

Today is World Immunization Week.

For decades, Rotary has been at the forefront of the global fight to end polio. Through the End Polio Now initiative, Rotary members around the world have helped reduce polio cases by over 99.9%, bringing us closer than ever to eradicating this disease for good.

Your support helps protect children, strengthen communities, and ensure that future generations can live free from polio. This work may not always be visible, but its impact is life-changing across the globe.

This week, take a moment to learn about Rotary’s role in ending polio, share credible information, or support efforts that bring us one step closer to a polio-free world. Together, we can finish what we started.

Today is the birthday of Paul Harris, born in 1868.

You can trace a powerful idea back to a simple beginning: bring people together, build trust, and serve the community with purpose. That vision still lives on every time you work across differences, strengthen local connections, and turn care into action.

The best way to honor this day is to keep the spirit of service moving forward. Invite someone in, support a local project, and help build the kind of community that grows stronger through kindness and integrity.

Yesterday’s Rotary meeting felt different in the best way.

We had the privilege of spending time with fellow Rotarians from Ternopil and Kharkiv, Ukraine, along with our American partners from Blue & Yellow. Hearing directly from them, seeing familiar faces, and being part of the same conversation made the distance between us feel a little smaller.

It was especially meaningful to reconnect with Jonathan, who leads blueandyellow.org and has been a colleague of our fellow Rotarian, Barry, since the invasion began in 2022. Our club had the opportunity to support some of those early efforts, and it means a lot to continue that connection today.

A sincere thank you to Barry Nelson for bringing this meeting together. As he shared, “We are aggressively prepping for our next missions to support orphans, veterans and frontline communities.” The work ahead is urgent, and it matters.

This is who we are as a club. We show up, we build relationships, and we stay engaged, not just in our own community, but wherever there is a need. Service for us is not limited by geography, and partnerships like these are a powerful reminder of what can happen when people come together with purpose.

114 years ago, Rotary crossed a border—and started a movement.

On April 13th, 1912, the Rotary Club of Winnipeg received its charter, becoming the first club formed outside the United States, and making Rotary an international organization. That step laid the foundation for the global impact we see today.

Let’s celebrate this historic milestone by recommitting to our shared mission of service without borders.

Today is World Health Day.

You see the strength of a community in how it cares for people when they are vulnerable. Health becomes more reachable when you support practical things: screenings, hygiene supplies, transportation, health education, blood drives, mental health awareness, and care for families who need a hand before a crisis grows.

This is a good day to ask who in your community still faces barriers to care and what one act of service could ease that burden. Start with compassion, follow with action, and help make health feel closer to home.

We begin our meetings with intention.
Starting with the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer, we take a moment to reflect on service, community, and purpose.
Then comes a favorite tradition: Happy Dollars. Members share something they are grateful for, big or small, while contributing to causes that matter. It is simple, meaningful, and often filled with smiles and a few laughs.
