Yesterday, NBC26 featured MPU’s Private Lead Service Line (LSL) Replacement Program highlighting the available funding to assist with at least 50% of the cost of replacing LSLs. The East Stack Filter at the Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) is nearly back online! It was shut down at the end of April to undergo full rehabilitation, which included replacing all of the media and installing a new mechanical drive, distributor arms, and media fans. It is expected to go back online within the next couple weeks.

Two of our four final clarifiers, #1 and #4, are also being upgraded. #1 has had full demolition and the upgrade is nearly complete with new effluent troughs formed, concrete poured, and the new center column and bridge being assembled ahead of installation. Startup is scheduled for the end of August. #4 is offline and ready for demolition to begin next week. This rehabilitation project is crucial to the WWTF producing permit-compliant effluent. We expect this project to be completed by the end of the year.

💥 Limited-time funding available! If you received a letter from us saying you have a lead service line (LSL), you qualify! MPU has secured Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) funding to pay for 50% of the replacement cost for all remaining LSLs in our community. The cost does vary by property.

MPU has been applying for funding to assist with LSL replacements for many years, however, funding levels and qualifications have varied due to direction from the WDNR and the Environmental Protection Agency. Now, 50% replacement funding is available to everyone. You must act today as agreements are due by August 31st to ensure funding is still available. Don't miss out! Sign-up today.
