Did you know meter tampering is dangerous and could be considered theft? Removing the seal from your electric meter, attempting self-reconnection, or tampering with MPU’s electrical equipment of any kind is against MPU Electric Rules. If electric service entrance work is needed requiring interruption of power, please call customer service to coordinate.

MPU began construction of the 63-megawatt addition to the power plant in 2004. The boiler-turbine generator utilizes fluidized-bed combustion technology and was placed into operation in April 2006.

Summer is here! Whether you’re installing a fence, adding a “for sale” sign, or planting a new tree; your first step should always be to call 8-1-1. Calling 8-1-1 will connect you with the Diggers Hotline where you can file a request to have utilities located where you will be digging. You can also file a request at: https://www.diggershotline.com. This extremely important step will keep you safe from potentially exposing, or digging into, electric or gas lines that could severely harm you.

Did you know? MPU has a Sprinkling Forgiveness Program that is in effect until October. On residential utility bills during these months, sewer usage is capped at the customer’s winter average. Customers will still be billed for all water usage, but sewer usage will only be charged up to the winter average. This Program is in place to charge for water usage that goes through the sewer system, not lawn sprinkling usage.

The second phase of our Wastewater Treatment Facility upgrade project is underway! The East Stack Filter shutdown commenced at the end of April. The stack filters provide most of the wastewater treatment and are filled with 11 layers of synthetic media, 20-feet deep, that provides a large surface area for the growth of aerobic bacteria as part of the secondary treatment process. This old media is currently being removed and will eventually be replaced with new media as a part of the rehabilitation process.
