Mankato City Library will be starting the Summer Reading Challenge next week! Inquire with the Mankato City Library if you have questions at 785-378-3885. One submission in the grand prize drawing per participant. All prizes available while supplies last. We have two grand prizes-one for Pre-K to 2nd grade and one for 3rd to 6th grade. Mankato City Library would like to announce that the installation of our automatic doors is complete! Our front doors and the doors to the restrooms can now be opened with the push of a button.

As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, Second Lady Usha Vance invites students in grades K-8 to take part in her Summer Reading Challenge and celebrate America through the power of books. From June 1 through September 4, students who read 12 books will be eligible for prizes and a chance to visit the nation's capital, Washington D.C. This is a special opportunity for young readers to explore stories about our history, our heroes, and dream about the future. We encourage you to spread the word throughout your community. Read 12 books by September 4th, 2026 and submit your completed tracker online. Learn more and participate at WH.gov/read.

Automatic door buttons have been installed on the bathroom doors in Mankato City Library. The electrical work on these is up next and our project will be completed! The automated doors are funded by the American Library Association Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities grant, round 2 and the City of Mankato.

The Kansas Pioneer Patriots traveling exhibit by the Kansas Society Daughters of the American Revolution is on display now through Saturday in the hallway at the Mankato Community Center. The exhibit may be accessed through the library during our regular hours of operation until Saturday at 1 pm.
