DORM STORM: Full on campus democracy in action as some of us knocked doors in the dormitories at MSU Mankato. We enjoyed talking to students about the upcoming election. Thx to my fellow Maverick door knockers and to the many students who spoke with us. Some of those students were able to vote on campus right after we spoke in Centennial Student Union where an early voting booth was available. Ten days until Election Day and we are working hard! I was proud to have my bill passed this year to provide $3 million for the new water treatment facility in Lafayette, Minnesota (population 500). This has been a long time coming, as the citizens there have put forth the bonding bill several years in a row, each time with me as the chief author. Thank you to all the residents, city, staff, and water employees for your patience. The current water situation is such that yesterday we spoke with one family who was cooking with bottled water they had to bring in from New Ulm. This facility, when completed, is estimated to save each household about $150 a month.

ON THE ROAD: I love campaigning in our district and we are working very hard. But once in a while I go help out DFL Senate colleagues, even when their districts are not, umm, nearby.

So…first Went to Hermantown and Two Harbors to support my friend Senator Grant Hauschild. Grant Hauschild for MN State Senate. Then I drove from there to Moorhead (just a bit west) to door knock for Sen Rob Kupec with multiple Senators and candidates including Mary Kunesh Senator Matt Klein, M.D. Simon Trautmann Cordova Sen Zaynab Mohamed and a couple dozen volunteer. Then drove south to St Cloud for a great group supporting Sen Aric Putnam.

Grateful for all the help. Sixteen days until Election Day! Let’s roll!

Public Safety is a big priority for Minnesotans. As one of my mentors once said, “if you can’t keep the people safe, they won’t care about whatever else you do”. That includes listening to the people who work in public safety every day.

For those reasons, my endorsements from Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association and Minnesota Professional Fire Fighters are important to me. Thank you to those members of the firefighter and police communities for the support. And especially for the work you do.

Quick shoutout to one of my favorite team sports– winning a majority.

Did you know that Minnesota’s campaign finance laws are pretty strong? Our strict spending limits give our key races a clear fundraising goal. That's a good thing. Some of our DFL Senate candidates need a bit of help hitting that number. If you’re all-in on a DFL majority and can pitch in $50 to one of our people, please comment on this post and look out for a DM from our team letting you know who needs support. Let’s crush this fundraising goal and then focus 110% on doors.

It’s debate season on the campaign trail. Glad to accept the invitation from League of Women Voters of Minnesota to be a part of last night’s SD18 debate in St Peter. Thx to our hosts - both the New Ulm and St Peter LWV chapters, and the St Peter Chamber of Commerce and St Peter Herald.
