The Manlius Fire Department is proud to host the Rope Rescue Operations course from the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control. This particular training teaches the skills sets needed to effectively conduct rescues from high angle type situations.

Members from Fayetteville and those from Manlius who are not already trained to this level of response are participating.

🚒🦆 Duckling Rescue on Fayette Street 🦆🚒

Earlier today, Ladder 32 responded to the area of Fayette Street and Pleasant Street for a report of ducklings trapped inside a storm drain.

The crew of Ladder 32 was able to successfully rescue all 4 ducklings and safely reunite them with their parents nearby. 🐥❤️

We were assisted on scene by the Town of Manlius Police Department. Thank you to everyone involved for helping ensure a safe outcome for this feathered family!

Ho**ch is remembered. And his family is loved and prayed for.

Ho**ch is remembered in subtle ways (his name tag remains on our duty board) and in significant ways, with our Annual Michael “Ho**ch” Hoosock Good Times Performance Award.

In Ho**ch’s memory, please join us in supporting the Annual Tunnels to Towers Run.

For those unfamiliar, this philanthropic organization was born out of the spirit of FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller. Firefighter Siller not only responded to 9/11 as an off-duty member, but when he reached the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, he found it was closed to all traffic. Undeterred, Siller carried his 60 pounds of gear and ran through the tunnel to the twin towers.

Firefighter Siller gave his life during the collapse of the World Trade Centers. From this loss, his family developed the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, which raises funds to support first responder and military families.

When we lost Ho**ch in April of 2024, the Tunnels to Towers Foundation stepped in to fully satisfy his family's mortgage. While we cannot remove the pain of losing a first responder in the line of duty, we can take action to support their loved ones.

With that, Cait Hoosock has established a "Team Ho**ch" for this year's event.

Preparing for any challenge, today’s duty crew takes the opportunity to train with our 107’ aerial ladder. Ladder trucks are often considered for their vertical reach, demonstrated here they can be used for below grade rescues too!
