For EMS Safety Day, the Mason City Fire Department reminds everyone to help keep responders, patients, and the public safe.

When you see emergency vehicles with lights and sirens, stay calm, use your signal, and pull over to the right side of the road until they pass. Do not stop in the middle of an intersection, and never attempt to follow an ambulance.

Avoid distractions, keep your music low enough to hear sirens, and use extra caution at intersections. A few safe choices from every driver can make a difference when every second counts.

Self-care isn’t selfish, it’s essential. Today marks the start of EMS week, and we’re kicking it off with Health, Wellness, and Resilience Day by focusing on the well-being of our providers. To our crew: thank you for the mental and physical strength you bring to every shift. Today is a reminder to check in on one another, prioritize your health, and build the resilience needed to continue serving our community with dedication and care.

We would like to say thank you to all of our law enforcement partners locally that we work with. Manly Police Department and the Worth County Sheriff’s Department respond to many of our calls with us.
