Basin Fire Department Fire Protection Area Residents & Property Owners — We Need Your Help!
If you live or own property within the Basin Fire Department protection area, please take a moment to check your Indian Electric Cooperative (IEC) bill and verify that your Basin Fire Department membership dues are still being collected each month.
We have recently found that several residents who believed they were paying fire dues no longer have the charge appearing on their electric bill. This is not intended to suggest that IEC removed anyone’s fire dues or made an error. There can be different circumstances or account changes that may affect an individual account, which is why we are simply asking everyone to verify their current bill.
We have been in contact with IEC, and they have advised us that a signed authorization is required to add or remove fire department dues from an account.
We also want to thank Indian Electric Cooperative for providing local fire departments with the opportunity to collect membership dues through monthly electric bills. This service makes it much easier for residents to support their local volunteer fire departments.
If Basin Fire Department dues are not currently being collected, you may no longer be considered a dues-paying member of the department. In the event of a fire or other billable response on your property, you could be responsible for the full cost of the response, with charges starting at a minimum of $1,500 for the first hour.
If you would like to have Basin Fire Department dues added to your electric bill, please contact Indian Electric Cooperative (IEC) for information on completing the required authorization.
Business owners within the Basin Fire Department protection area: Please contact Basin Fire Department directly at 918-865-3488 to establish your fire dues.
Your membership dues are extremely important to keeping our volunteer fire department operating. These funds help pay for:
* Fuel for fire apparatus
* Truck repairs and maintenance
* Station and utility expenses
* Replacement of aging firefighting and medical equipment
* Replacement of protective gear and PPE
* Equipment needed to keep our firefighters safe while serving our community
Please check your IEC bill, even if you have paid Basin Fire Department dues for many years, and verify that the charge is currently listed.
This notice is simply an effort by Basin Fire Department to make sure our residents and property owners are aware of their current membership status and have an opportunity to correct it if necessary.
Thank you to Indian Electric Cooperative for working with our local fire departments, and thank you to our residents and property owners for continuing to support Basin Fire Department and helping us protect our community.
