Here are 6 safety trips for working out in the heat!
1. Hydration: Drink fluids consistently throughout the day. Avoid sugary, caffeinated, or alcoholic beverages, as these will Dehydrate you.
2. Breaks: Resting a cool, shaded, or air-conditioned environment when you feel overheated.
3. Clothing: Wear loose, lightweight, and light-colored clothing and with a hat.
4. Acclimatization: Build up your tolerance to high temperatures gradually.
5. Sign of Heat Exhaustion: Look for dizziness, Headache, Nausea, Rapid Pulse, and Cool Moist Skin.
-Action: Stop all activity, move to a cool place, and sip cool water. Apply wet cloths.
6. Heat Stroke: This is a medical emergency. Dangerously high body temperature (above 103), Confusion, Hot and Red Skin, and Unconsciousness.
-Action: Call 911 Immediately. Cool the person down rapidly with Ice, Cold water, or a fan while waiting for medical help.
