FIRE WEATHER ALERT! The US National Weather Service Bismarck North Dakota has issues a fire weather watch for most of Western ND and portion of Southern ND for Wednesday.
* Critical fire weather conditions are possible on Wednesday across most of western ND and portions of southern ND.
* Minimum relative humidity will drop into the lower teens across SW ND
* Sustained winds could reach 20 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph

ANY fires that ignite could spread rapidly and become difficult to control.

Missing adult!

**UPDATE 4/11**

This missing person has been located deceased in Valley City. While not the outcome that the many loved ones were searching for, we hope that closure can provide a measure of comfort as they move through their grief.

A Silver Alert is being issued by NDHP and ND BCI at the request of Wahpeton Police Department. Alfred Odden of Wahpeton, ND is a 73 year old white male.

Alfred is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs between 160-180 pounds, and has short grayish hair and green eyes. His last known whereabouts were on 04/02/2026 in Valley City, ND. He is believed to be driving a Teal 1994 Ford F-150 with red topper, ND License MEUCCI2.

Alfred is a vulnerable adult and was last seen at Casey's Gas Station in Valley City, ND on 04/02/2026. He was wearing a purple zip up jacket with a possible "W" emblem on front and tan pants.

Here’s the travel update!

Expect hazardous travel along the Interstate 94 corridor Friday morning through Saturday evening, with snow spreading from west to east. Some locations in the south central and James River Valley area could see up to a foot of heavy, wet snow.

As of Noon Thursday: Snow forecast for Friday into Saturday. THIS MAY CHANGE but it's an idea looking over new data.

I will tell you firsthand some areas will be way off the mark. That's the nature of snow forecasting. Truth is, a snow storm is coming and travel disruptions are possible by Friday afternoon. Better to be prepared.

As much as I hate having to say this time and time again - please don't get nasty with comments. I will block you and that's the end of it. We simply don't have time dealing with nonsense. Take these forecasts for what they're worth, and if nothing to you, move on. To the rest and the 99% I value: Thank you for understanding.

accumulations up to 3 inches. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy
snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 6 and 12 inches.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest North Dakota (Counties: Dunn, Mercer, Oliver, Stark, Morton, Hettinger, Grant, Adams, Sioux) (Communities: New England, Mott, Hazen, New Leipzig, Elgin, Selfridge, Solen, Hettinger, Halliday, Carson, Fort Yates, Beulah, Center, Dickinson, Mandan, & Killdeer)

* WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 1 PM CDT /noon MDT/
Thursday. For the Winter Storm Watch, from Thursday evening through
Saturday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions
may impact the evening and morning commutes through Saturday.

Dunn County Commissioners approved burn restrictions for 2026 at their meeting on Wednesday. The Emergency Management Department will continue to work with the local fire chiefs and suggest amendments if weather conditions allow. At this time there is a full restriction on pits/open pile of debris burning.
