NEWS RELEASE: In relation to all the social media post by Mr. Devon Long in reference to issues he is having with the Have Faith Community Development Corporation in Alcolu, SC.:
On June 27, 2026, Mr. Long called Clarendon 911 to request an es**rt to an address in the Alcolu community to pick his mother up from a home that she has been living in and wished to vacate.
Mr. Long was met by a Clarendon County Deputy and was es**rted to the address. Mr. Long expressed that he wished his grandmother would also leave with him. She would not leave, so Mr. Long left with his mother and her belongings.
Later that evening, Mr. Long began posting videos on social media of the residence, vehicles and phone numbers of members of the Have Faith Organization as well as his grandmother’s phone number. Mr. Long also insinuated that his grandmother was being held against her will.
On June 28, a representative from the Have Faith Organization called the Sheriff’s Office requesting a report to be taken on all the social media post as well as numerous phone calls that he was receiving from unknown individuals generated from the social media post.
Later in the evening on June 28, a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office responded back to the Alcolu area to meet with the Have Faith representative to take the report. While meeting with the representative, the deputy also met with the grandmother of Mr. Devon Long.
The grandmother stated that she was fine, was not being held against her will and wanted Mr. Long to leave her alone. She requested that her grandson, Mr. Long, be put on a No Trespass Notice and for him not to call her or come back to the residence where she lived. She stated that she was receiving so many phone calls from individuals that got her number from the social media post. They had become so obsessive that she had to change her number.
On June 29, 2026, Sheriff Baxley received a phone call from the Have Faith representative in reference to the report he had filed the previous day. He was concerned that some of the information that was given to the officer was not in the report. Sheriff Baxley informed him to go back to the Sheriff’s Office the next morning and meet with a deputy for a supplemental report.
On July 7th, an investigator with the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office went back out to the Alcolu area to meet with the grandmother to do a welfare check and follow up from a DSS referral that was filed with them. The Investigator reported that the grandmother seemed to be in good health, physically and mentally, and enjoyed living where she was. She stated that she did not want to leave and was not being held hostage.
On one of the social media posts, it was insinuated through a recorded phone conversation between Mr. Long and the Have Faith representative that Tim, (Sheriff) had been out there and talked with himself and the grandmother. It was also mentioned that since the Sheriff was called Tim that it meant there was a personal relationship with one of the parties involved. Sheriff Baxley did not meet with the representative nor Mr. Longs grandmother.
Sheriff Baxley is referred to by most as Tim. He signs all his letters this way. He takes no disrespect to not being addressed as Sheriff.
Mr. Long reached out to the Sheriff by email on July 6 wishing for him to call him. Sheriff (Tim) Baxley does not do phone calls to be posted over social media.
A check was done on any other abuse allegations at the location known as the Have Faith Community Development Corporation and none were found.
