🔥 Help us celebrate Nate Canclini as he officially promotes to the rank of Captain! 🚒

Surrounded by his family and firehouse brothers and sisters, Nate was pinned with his Captain badge by his kids Waverly and Watson.

A pinning ceremony is a long-standing fire service tradition that marks a firefighter's formal transition into a new rank. The badge represents trust, leadership, and the responsibility to lead others while serving the community in its most critical moments.

As a Captain, Nate will lead firefighters on emergency scenes, make critical decisions under pressure, mentor the next generation of firefighters, and ensure his crew is prepared for whatever the next call brings. For Immediate Release:

Manor, TX - On August 29th, 2026 at approximately 2:58pm, officers with Manor Police Department, as well as ATCEMS and TCESD-12 responded to E US 290 HWY WB at Old Kimbro Rd in reference to a two vehicle collision.

Numerous callers advised of a collision involving an 18-wheeler and a sedan. Additional callers advised there were injured occupants and possibly fatalities. Officers and responders arrived on scene and began evaluating all involved occupants.

Tragically, two adult occupants of the sedan, a male and female, were pronounced deceased on scene. A pediatric male patient in the sedan was transported to an area hospital by STAR Flight with significant injuries.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured and remained on scene to cooperate with the investigation. A preliminary investigation indicates the 18-wheeler was traveling westbound on US 290 and ran a red light, striking the passenger side of the blue sedan, which was turning northbound onto Old Kimbro Rd from E US 290 HWY EB.

Identification of the occupants are not being released at this time.

Manor PD extends its condolences to the family and friends of those who passed away in this tragic incident. We also would like to thank our partners with TCESD-12, ATCEMS, AFD, TCSO, and DPS for their assistance.

🚨🧪 HazMat training takes more than a certification. It takes ongoing practice.

Battalion Chief Adam Tapia, Captain Billy Burch, Lieutenant Patrick Speir, and Firefighter Connor Palacios recently completed the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) required Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Technician refresher, including hands-on skills testing in Level A protective suits. These suits provide the highest level of protection for HazMat responders, fully enclosing the firefighter and supplying clean breathing air while they work in hazardous environments.

HazMat Technicians are specially trained to identify, assess, and mitigate hazardous materials incidents while operating in environments that can be dangerous to both the public and responders.

Keeping these skills current means has specialized firefighters ready to respond when hazardous materials threaten our community. 🚒💪

🔥 Wildfire season doesn’t stop at district lines, and neither does our response.

Fire Chief Chris McKenzie joined fellow Travis County Fire Chiefs today at Travis County Commissioners Court alongside County Judge Andy Brown for a wildfire preparedness press conference focused on how our communities and fire departments prepare for the threat of wildfire.

Preparing for wildfire means more than being ready to respond. It means strengthening our communities, increasing staffing, and putting additional resources in place before they’re needed.

The biggest message? We work as one system.

All 12 Travis County Emergency Services Districts (ESDs) serving communities outside the City of Austin work together, share resources, and support one another with emergency responses. That system also works closely with Austin Fire Department to strengthen our regional response.

🔥 Help prevent wildfires: avoid activities that create sparks or open flames when conditions are dry and windy, and always check for local burn restrictions before burning.

When the fire gets bigger, the response gets bigger. We don’t operate in silos. We work together. 🚒🔥🤝

As a Fire Engineer, Kylie now steps into a key operational role on every call. Fire Engineers are responsible for safely transporting crews, operating and maintaining fire apparatus and equipment, and providing technical expertise that supports the entire team during emergencies. Their skill and precision help ensure responses are fast, effective, and safe when seconds matter.
