At approximately 13:21 hours on May 9th 2026 the Manorville Fire Department was activated for a structure fire at 3 Williams St. 5-16-31 was first on scene and reported a fully involved detached 2 car garage with multiple exposures. Engine 7 was the first due engine and made a quick knock on the fire. Mutual aid was provided by Center Moriches, East Moriches, Eastport and Ridge Fire Departments. All units were back in service at 15:09

Open burning of debris is the single-largest cause of spring wildfires in New York State. When temperatures warm and the past fall's debris and leaves dry out, wildfires can start and spread easily, further fueled by winds and a lack of green vegetation.
Although open burning is limited year-round across Suffolk County, New York State enacted strict restrictions on springtime open burning in 2009 to help prevent wildfires. With the annual statewide burn ban beginning today, here are a few important reminders:
🌲 Residential brush fires are prohibited during the spring burn ban, when most wildfires occur.
πŸͺ΅ Backyard fire pits and campfires are permitted if they are less than 3 feet high and 4 feet in length, width, or diameter.
🚫 Only charcoal or dry, clean, untreated, or unpainted wood may be burned.
🧯 Fires must never be left unattended and must be completely extinguished after use.
πŸ‚ Burning garbage or leaves is prohibited year-round in New York State.
🦺 These regulations are in place to help protect our community, prevent brush fires, and keep our firefighters safe.
πŸš’ If you see an unsafe fire or a fire spreading, call 911 immediately.
