The DeSoto Parish Police Jury offices and compactor sites will be closed on Monday May 25, 2026, observance of Memorial Day as we join our nation in honoring the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedoms. Memorial Day is more than a holiday—it is a sacred day of remembrance, gratitude, and patriotism as we reflect on those heroes whose courage and devotion secured the liberties we cherish today. As we gather with family and friends, let us proudly remember and honor the fallen who gave everything for our country. God bless our servicemen and women, and God bless America.

The DeSoto Parish Police Jury would like to remind residents that debris removal operations related to Winter Storm Fern are ongoing; however, there are important limitations the public should be aware of.
DeSoto Parish Police Jury road crews are prohibited from clearing debris located within the right-of-way of state-maintained roads. Residents with debris along state highways should contact the appropriate state agency for assistance.
Additionally, debris pickup operations conducted under federal disaster assistance guidelines will cease after August 18, 2026. This deadline is established by FEMA, and no debris collection related to this event will occur after that date.
Residents are encouraged to notify the road department of winter storm related debris. The road crews will document the storm debris removal.
The Police Jury appreciates the public’s cooperation and understanding as we complete this recovery effort.

Beginning April 13, 2026, the contractor will start mobilizing equipment and preparing the site for Stonewall’s new compactor facility. The project includes three components: improvements to Highway 171 with the addition of a turn lane, construction of a new access road to the site, and development of the compactor site itself. Completion is anticipated by November. The turn lane will be constructed this summer to help prevent traffic delays. Thank you for your patience as we move forward with this project. God Bless!
