With the winter storm approaching this evening, here are a few things to keep in mind.

Here at Mifflin we will be staffing extra personnel, to help prepare for whatever mother nature may bring us. But with that being said, road conditions may be hazardous and our response times may still be delayed to make sure we get there safely.

If you do not need to travel, please stay home! If you must travel plan accordingly and leave early. Even if the snow stops the roads may not be completely clear.

The State, County and Township Road Workers will be out around the clock trying their hardest to stay on top of the roads. Give them time and space to do their job.

343 of our brothers and sisters started their shift like any other day, doing a job they loved. 24 years later we remember their courage and the ultimate sacrifice they made to help others on this horrific day. May they never be forgotten!

It appears that people are using our dumpster at our Station 1 as a “recycling dumpster”.

To clear up some confusion for everyone since the recycling bins moved, (still on our property though).
**First Picture - the Fire Department and Road Department Dumpster, ONLY! It is located in the rear of our Station 1.
NOT A COMMUNITY DUMPSTER/RECYCLING
**Second and Third Picture - when you pull into our driveway, look to the left and you will see the new location of the Recycling Bins and our Aluminum Can Shed. Rumpke comes and empties the recycling bins every Monday and Thursday, the can shed we empty about once a month. A reminder if they are full DO NOT place anything outside the bins or shed.

**PLEASE DRIVE SLOW AND WATCH FOR TRAFFIC WHEN COMING TO RECYCLE**

**We have a company at our Station 1 that is doing our hose testing today, Aug 4th and potentially tomorrow, Aug 5th. They will be there until approximately 5pm. There is limited access to the recycling bins, please wait until after 5pm to bring recycling. Thank you!**

We recently received the delivery of our 2024 Dodge Ram 5500 chassis remount. The box is from our previous 2008 Ford F450.

Without the continued support of the community we would not be able to keep our equipment up to date.

First, we would like to give an update on the 3 firefighters that were injured today, they are all stable and will recover. 2 of the 3 have been released from the hospital with minor injuries that will take time to heal. The 3rd firefighter is in Columbus with severe trauma to the hand and is expected to be released on Friday.

Today it was all hands on deck and we would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to our mutual aid departments that responded to assist us today, Madison Twp Fire, Mansfield City Fire, Ashland City Fire, Monroe-Lucas Fire, Washington Twp Fire, Mifflin Twp Fire-Ashland County and Savannah Fire-Ashland County!

Thank you to Mifflin Twp Road Dept, Richland County EMA, American Red Cross and 1-800-BOARDUP for making sure the firefighters on scene were staying hydrated.
