It was an exciting day outside our office! The beautiful end to this 2-year project is in sight!!

“Did you really spend all that money in downtown just to leave the roads a mess?”

I’ve see a variation of that question going around a lot lately…here is the answer:
👉 NO!

You will see Kokosing beginning to mill the road very soon and then applying fresh asphalt. We will be paving all the way from the Lex Ave/S. Main split up through Main Street to meet up with where ODOT recently resurfaced N. Main. A whole new roadway.

What else is yet to come?
👉 The arches going on the square should be here in the next couple weeks.
👉 The seating areas in the plazas in front of both bank buildings will be completed.
👉 The left turn lane on Park Ave East onto S. Diamond Street will be opened.
👉 …and a whole lot more!

And don’t forget, Main Street will be two-way at the end of the project. There will be some punch list items getting crossed off the list after October but we will all be glad to see the finishing of the major construction. 🚧

Thanks to ALL who have worked so hard on this project for so many years! The NEW Main Street is just around the corner!

Richland County Transit (RCT) will once again offer service to the Board of Elections (BOE) at the Longview Center, weekdays during early voting.



October 6 through October 30, passengers can request an on-call stop at the BOE on West Longview when traveling Route 5 (Springmill/Bowman) or Route 9 (W. 4th Street) during RCT daytime operating hours (M-F 7a-6p). Passengers on other routes can transfer to Route 5 or 9 at the RCT Transit Center.



Evening transit service to the Longview Center is now available via RCT Flex Route 18 (City Heart Line), which runs Monday-Friday 6:15-11p.



The cost of a one-way RCT trip is $2 for adults, $1 for youth, seniors and disabled riders. RCT offers free travel training for those who would like help with using the bus routes. For more information about RCT’s services, see https://rctbuses.com/ or call 419-522-4504.

There's still time to submit a project for our upcoming Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) update focused on Fiscal Years 2028 through 2031!

The RCRPC MPO is currently developing the Fiscal Year 2028-2031 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (STBG). The TIP is updated on a two-year cycle and covers a four-year period, overlapping by two years with the current MPO FY 2026-2029 TIP. This call for projects allows applicants to apply for new projects to be funded in FY 2030 and 2031, or to roll over and update unobligated phases of projects currently programmed in FY 2028 and 2029 of the FY 2026-2029 TIP. It's National Roundabouts week! Roundabouts are an FHWA proven safety countermeasure to combat crashes on roadways and reduce fatal and serious crashes by 82%. They also reduce traffic delays by 62-74%. Slow down and yield to vehicles in a roundabout when you approach one.
