When a critical incident occurs in our great city, we can always count on our community to come together, step up, and assist us in any way possible. Over the weekend, we received numerous tips and each one is carefully researched and vetted. Early this morning with the help of several valid leads, Detectives were able to identify the suspect in the shooting that occurred in the 300 block of Walnut Creek (Rose Park) on Saturday night. Within a couple of hours right before lunch, Officers along with our Fugitive Task Force arrested Gregory Holmes III without incident. Holmes is charged with Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon and a confirmed Warrant out of another agency for evading arrest with a vehicle. Holmes was transported and processed in our city jail. It should be noted that Gregory Holmes III is 17-years-old and in the State of Texas, due to his age, he is considered to be an adult and will be charged appropriately. We would like to thank you, our community, for sharing our posts and coming forward with information that assisted our Detectives in a quick arrest.

What a fun day! We had the pleasure of showing 4-year-old Wyatt and his sister Breelyn around our police department this afternoon. Their mom, Ashley, jumped in and assisted officers on a call last week. Ever since then, her son Wyatt asked her if he could meet more officers and of course your MPD sprung into action. We planned out a fun-filled afternoon with our SWAT Team, Motor Officers, K9 Unit, Patrol Officers, and Police Chief Aaron. Wyatt loved the obstacle course and his specialty was racing the officers including Chief Aaron down the hallway. Thank you Ashley for your assistance last week and for letting us hang out with Wyatt and Breelyn. It was a great day for everyone! #MansfieldRocks

Over the weekend, Police Chief Tracy Aaron was out and about and stopped by at a lemonade stand. He had the pleasure of meeting Addy and Averi and they gave him two cookies and a lemonade. They told him that they support our police department and wouldn't let him pay for the treats. They said it was on the house. Thank you Addy and Averi!
