Alisha sent us a FB message wanting to give a shoutout to Officer Sanders. He was patrolling her neighborhood one night and noticed several flashing lights. Officer Sanders stopped to see what was going on and he noticed her kiddos playing flashlight 🔦 tag. He thought it was pretty cool and chatted with them for awhile. Alisha said, “Big KUDOS to Mansfield PD!” 👏🏻

Praying for Norilisse (Nori) Serrano's family and friends. You will be missed by your Mansfield PD and Burleson PD family. #NeverForgotten 💛 #ThankYouForYourService 💛

It is with great sadness the Burleson Police Department announced the passing of public safety communications specialist Norilisse (Nori) Serrano. On Saturday, May 16, 2020, Nori was working the 911 console when she had a medical issue. Burleson communications staff called for help and Nori was transported, but unfortunately passed away at the hospital. While the death of a cowoker is never easy, losing a member of the team while on-duty is exceptionally hard. Please keep those working with Nori on Saturday in your thoughts and prayers. Previous to working in Burleson, Nori worked at Mansfield PD Communications for 14-years. She leaves behind her husband, and 9-year old daughter. A fund has been set up for her family. https://www.ct100.org/page-1739840?fbclid=IwAR2nArEmc2QGlWGQ5wyZwKXem6_NaMsEQQU-s8p1hl594zkcNRat952m-0E

They are 2 out of the 60 Special Olympics athletes that represent our great city of Mansfield. They participate in bocce, bowling and basketball. Their team created a goodie basket filled with treats and cards for our officers. Thanks Nick and Ben and we hope y’all get to play your sports soon. #MansfieldStrong #WeLoveSpecialOlympicsAthletes

After careful evaluation by city leaders, event organizers and emergency management, the City Council decided to cancel the 2020 Rockin 4th of July event. Please know this was not a decision made lightly, but one made in the best interest of the health and safety of everyone involved. Rockin 4th is always an amazing night of community and celebration, but there is simply no way to proceed with the social distance and cleaning protocols necessary to comply with the state restrictions and public health best practices. We are disappointed but stand by the importance of protecting our community’s health so we can all be around to celebrate many more holidays together in the future.

We would like to recognize a special teacher from last week’s Teacher Appreciation post. Let’s give a shoutout to Mrs. Torres from Erma Nash Elementary. Not only is Mrs. Torres an awesome teacher, but also she made Ericka’s day by remembering her birthday. It’s the little things like this that makes a huge impact on our kids’ lives. Ericka will always remember and cherish this special act of kindness. #MrsTorresRocks 🌺#CreatingMemories #MansfieldStrong

Don't forget to answer the 10 Census questions online, on the phone or by mail. Your response matters. The census can shape many different aspects of our community such as health clinics, public safety, schools, roadways, etc. Mansfield is currently at 66.9%. Please visit www.2020census.gov.

We still have a way to go when it comes to improving our 2020 Census response rate. Right now Mansfield is at 66.9 percent. We need residents to answer those 10 important Census questions, either online, on the phone or by mail. We especially need the neighborhoods in northwest and southeast Mansfield to respond. It takes less than 5 minutes to do something that means a lot to our community's future. Visit www.2020census.gov.

Mission #3105

This week for National Police Week, we honor fallen officers for their service, courage and sacrifice. Let’s start #KindnessTuesday by remembering FTW Police Corporal Garrett Hull. On September 14, 2018, Corporal Hull succumbed to a gunshot wound sustained the previous night as he and other members of the Criminal Intelligence Unit attempted to apprehend three armed robbery suspects. After that night, Mission 3105 was created.

Mission #3105 is an effort from his family and friends who wanted to ensure that his philosophy lives on by spreading kindness and good will to others through projects big and small. Just like his badge number 3105, their mission is to perform 31 acts of good in the 5th month of the year.

Let’s join together and do one act of kindness each day until the end of May to honor Corporal Garrett Hull. Kindness from your heart goes a long way. We will never forget. #NeverForgotten #BackTheBlue #KindnessMeansEverything

Now more than ever, the world needs good. The world needs blue skies, and the world absolutely needs heroes. Today kicks off the second annual Mission 3105 campaign, and we need your help! Believe in heroes like @Fort Worth Police Department Cpl. Garrett Hull, who gave his life in the line of duty in Sept. 2018, and help us continue his mission. Just like his badge number, we're asking for 31 acts of good in this, the 5th month of the year. One a day, in honor of our hero, and the many heroes all around us. Share them with us here, and help us spread good and love around the world.

05/11/2020

The Mansfield Police Department invites you to honor all Peace Officers during National Police Week. Police Officers need your support this week now more than ever due to the cancellation of local, state and national memorial services as a result of the health pandemic. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designed May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week. Typically, thousands gather at the Texas State Capitol and in Washington D.C. to honor our nation’s fallen heroes.

Join us in remembering Mansfield Officer Danny Forest Cordes. Motor Officer Cordes was killed in the line of duty when his police motorcycle was struck by a trailer which had come loose from a pickup truck. Officer Cordes had been with Mansfield PD for 20 years. His End of Watch was Friday, May 23, 1986. We will Never Forget Officer Danny Cordes.
