Today is Volunteer Appreciation Day and we would like to recognize all of our MPD Volunteers! They are a huge part of our department and we are proud to call them family. Meet Cory! He participated in our Citizens Police Academy Class 10 and has helped out ever since. He makes sure our patrol cars are shiny and clean. He also participates in several community events throughout the year and assists us with our towers. Thank you Cory! We appreciate you. #VIPs #VolunteersRock

Sergeant Minnich to the rescue! Yesterday, the SWAT Team posed with Lizzie and Buttons in hopes of finding them a #FureverHome. Lizzie’s sweet personality and charm caught Sergeant Minnich off guard and he fell in love with her. After practice, he picked her up and brought her home to his family. UPDATE: Lizzie and Buttons were adopted!
..................
Our SWAT Team had some four-legged visitors today during their team training. They are hoping these two cuties will find their #FureverHome. First we have Buttons. She is a 4-5 year old Chihuahua mix. Buttons is laid back and would love to chill with someone during the day. She is heart worm positive but Animal Care & Control can assist if needed. Next, we have Lizzie. She is 9-10 months old and is a Shepherd mix. Lizzie is so well-behaved and will melt your heart. If you have any questions, please contact Animal Care at 817- 276-4799. #PleaseShare

Zeno Pfau and Bill Quick are a team of crusaders making sure that life is a little better for some of society’s most vulnerable residents in Mansfield.

The “Senior Citizen Program” was developed in November 2014 as a “Welfare Check” for residents of Mansfield, aged 65+, by Zeno Pfau, Program Coordinator, at the direction of the Mansfield Police Department Chief of Police Tracy Aaron. Bill Quick joined the Program in 2019 as a Coordinator and works with Zeno to ensure our Seniors are well and safe. This Program is free and unique in the State of Texas.

Our welfare checks are made monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly by phone, text, or email at the senior’s request. The purpose is to ensure that they are okay and to find out if they have any questions, concerns, or problems that may be resolved by Zeno or Bill. Many families are happy that someone else is checking in on their senior relatives. The Program also provides our Seniors the ability to contact either Coordinator 24/7 any day of the week if they have any questions except for a “911” situation. To be eligible for inclusion in this Program, the senior must have a mailing address with a 76063 ZIP code which allows those just outside the City limits to be included.

Please contact Zeno or Bill for more information or enrollment. Zeno Pfau’s Office number is: 817-276-4724 and Bill Quick’s Office number is 817-728-3933.

As this week comes to an end, we wanted to send out another shoutout to our Telecommunicators and Animal Care and Control Team. As a token of our appreciation, our command staff brought both departments some gourmet cupcakes. Also, our midnight supervisors surprised our dispatchers with some Crumble Cookies. Y’all are the best and we thank you for all you do. 💙

Look at this sweet boy! Assistant Chief Lanier fell in love with Robin. He is a Pyrenees and Retriever mixed and is approximately 9-10 months old. His brother Batman was adopted a week ago so let’s try to find Robin his #FureverHome. He loves attention and enjoys his belly rubbed. If you are interested, please contact Animal Care at 817- 276-4799. #PleaseShare

During Monday night's City Council Meeting, Mayor Michael Evans issued two proclamations, Telecommunicators Appreciation Week and Animal Care and Control Appreciation Week, from April 11 - April 17. These departments work diligently and professionally in their duties to serve in keeping our citizens safe. Our Telecommunicators are the first voice that you hear when you need assistance and they are our headset heroes. Our ACO team works a variety of calls that can be uncommon like rescuing a deer or baby squirrel. They never have a dull day and they love what they do. Thank you! #WeAppreciateYou

Hey Mansfield, there has been some chatter on social media about a recent incident. Here is some information that we would like to share.

Officers responded to a shooting call in the area of Main and Broad Street at 7:15 on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. Three men were involved in a fight and at one point one man shot the other man. The third man dropped off a victim at the hospital with an apparent gunshot wound that is considered non-life threatening and left the area. The other subject went to another hospital due to non-life threatening injuries sustained during the incident. Officers located and secured the handgun. This is still an ongoing investigation and we are unsure of the motive at this time.

Please continue to pray for Officer Lott and also for the innocent victim’s family who was shot and killed today. 🙏🏻💙

Now we want to take a moment and focus on our officer. Officer Joshua Lott began his career with Burleson Police Department in May 2017. Officer Lott has served this community with great pride, and he has received several accolades in his short tenure with BPD. He was awarded two life-saving awards, one in 2018 and one in 2020. He was given a police commendation in 2019 for work he made to recover seven motorcycles at Burleson Power Sports.

Officer Lott was fortunate today when there have been other officers that were not. Our prayers are with Officer Lott and his family, the innocent victim's family whose life was taken when it is believed the suspect carjacked her vehicle, and to all law enforcement officers across the country and their families.

We understand our community will want to know what to do to help Officer Lott and his family. You can reach out [email protected] and she will assist in coordination.

Burleson Police Department expresses our sincere appreciation to the multiple agencies who assisted and offered assistance, the U.S. Marshal's Office, Texas Rangers and Department of Public Safety. We also want to express our thank you to the medical staff at John Peter Smith Hospital who rendered care to our officer. Thank you to our community for their love and well wishes.
