I think Tiny had a lot fun bringing Dean John Wang to Nash!!
What happens when Dean John Wang, a school mascot named Tiny, and a room full of curious students get together for Career Day? A lot of great questions, big smiles, and conversations about the power of libraries.
UTA Dean of Libraries Dean John Wang visited Erma Nash Elementary School in Mansfield, Texas, on May 13 to talk with students about what it’s like to work at UTA Libraries and why helping people is his favorite part of the job.
Students asked everything from “Do you always have to be quiet in the library?” to “How many books are in the UTA Libraries?” They also learned that Dean John attended five universities in three countries and even drives a golf cart around campus for meetings!
The visit included a fun library tour video, stickers and candy for brave volunteers, and a lively guessing contest for teachers trying to figure out just how many books are in the UTA Libraries collection.
We’re grateful to counselor and Career Day organizer Kymberly Ferrell, Principal Kia Johnson McAdams, and Tiny for helping create such a memorable day for students. We loved sharing a little bit of UTA Libraries with these future Mavericks.
