Hey Mansfield, we have a special treat for you! Take a look at Firefighter McCord and Police Sergeant Manning posing with two fun-loving doggies who are looking for a #FureverHome. First, we have Rudy. Rudy is a 5-6 year old Pitt mix. He has a relaxed disposition and loves to sit and chill. Now Millie on the other hand is spunky and a ball of energy. She is a 1 1/2 year old Pitt mix and very friendly. For more info, please contact Animal Care and Control at 817- 276-4799. 🚓🚒

As we celebrate Memorial Day today;

The rifle is affixed with a bayonet and inverted, signifying that the Soldier went down fighting. The boots signify the Soldier’s last march onto the battlefield. Dog tags are imprinted with the Soldier’s name and hung from the rifle so their identity will never be forgotten. The helmet is placed atop the rifle representing what the Soldier stood for and signifying that their battle is now over.

This is called The Battlefield Cross. It is a sacred symbol amongst military members. Since a funeral is typically not possible during wartime, these symbols serve as a rallying point where surviving members of a unit can mourn and remember their fallen comrades.

This Memorial Day, reach out to the surviving family members of a soldier that gave their all and the Veteran’s that served alongside them and give them a simple message: “We Remember.”
We remember our country’s fallen and we appreciate and honor their sacrifice. #MemorialDay
