Yesterday Mansfield Fire Department Truck 1, Battalion 1, Engine 4 and Brush 4 responded on mutual aid to Tarrant County ESD No. 1 for a large fire incident in the Rendon area.

The incident began as a reported vehicle fire on Jessica Lane, where crews encountered a fully involved RV with fire spreading to nearby structures, vehicles, brush, and trees. The fire ultimately burned approximately five acres and required a large-scale response involving more than 30 apparatus from numerous departments across the area.

Mansfield crews operated at the incident for approximately seven hours, working alongside our mutual aid partners in 100+ degree temperatures. Fire suppression efforts were complicated by limited apparatus access, the distance to available hydrants, and the significant water supply needed throughout the incident.

Two firefighters were transported to the hospital and were reported to be in stable condition. No civilian injuries were reported.

We appreciate the tremendous coordination and hard work of all agencies involved in bringing this challenging incident under control.

We’re also grateful to Cici’s Pizza, Whataburger, Chick-fil-A, Fort Worth Fire Department, Johnson County Support Services, and the American Red Cross for helping keep crews fed, hydrated, and supported throughout the extended incident.

Mansfield Fire Department crews responded to Midlothian to assist with a mutual-aid structure fire this past Monday.

Our members worked alongside Midlothian Fire Department and Grand Prairie Fire Department to help bring the incident under control. We are grateful for the strong partnerships that allow neighboring departments to quickly support one another when needed.

**Outdoor Burning Restrictions Effective Today**

Due to ongoing drought conditions, elevated fire danger, and the threat of rapidly spreading grass and vegetation fires, the Mansfield Fire Marshal has issued temporary restrictions on outdoor burning and open flames within the City of Mansfield, effective August 26, 2026.

Outdoor burning—including brush, debris, bonfires, trench burning, and land-clearing burns—is prohibited.

Outdoor cooking may continue with proper precautions. Gas grills are strongly recommended. Charcoal grills, smokers, and similar appliances must be on a noncombustible surface, at least 10 feet from combustible materials, attended at all times, and have water or another means of extinguishment immediately available.

Hot work requires a permit through the Fire Marshal’s Office, and activities involving open flames, pyrotechnics, model rockets, or ceremonial fires are prohibited during the order.

The order remains in effect until rescinded. Violations may result in fines up to $2,000 per offense.

As the winds changed this morning, it brought smoke from the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto and Jack counties is affecting air quality and visibility across Mansfield today. We understand seeing and smelling smoke can be concerning.

Before calling 9-1-1 to report smoke, please take a moment to look for signs of a nearby fire—such as visible flames, a distinct smoke column, or smoke coming from a specific home, business, vehicle, or area.

If you see an active fire, believe someone is in danger, or are unsure whether the smoke could be from a local emergency, please call 9-1-1 immediately. When in doubt, we would much rather you call.

This quick awareness check helps keep emergency resources available for local incidents while crews continue responding to calls throughout the city. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

E. Broad St is currently closed both directions near Waxahachie St due to a downed power line. Please avoid the area while power crews work to mitigate the situation.

Thank you Mansfield Stadium and NTSC for hosting a First Responders Appreciation Game this past Saturday. Mansfield Fire Department had a great time connecting with our community during the touch-a-truck event and enjoying the game!

Four Mansfield Fire Department members are celebrating significant service milestones!

On Friday, City of Mansfield Management stopped by Fire Station 3 to recognize:

* Firefighter Paramedic Konnor Marshall — 5 years
* EMS Specialist Paramedic Brett Oleksy — 10 years
* Engineer Paramedic Fernando Vasquez — 10 years
* Fire Marshal Scott Lingo — 20 years (not pictured)

We are grateful for their continued dedication and service to the citizens of Mansfield. Congratulations, gentlemen!

Union Pacific's Hazmat has taken over the incident. They have the proper equipment enroute to clear everything up throughout the night. All FD units are clear of the incident but the roadway will continue to remain blocked without a definitive ETA on reopening. Mansfield Police Department will have updates on traffic and roadway closures.
