Even the most loving, attentive parents can forget things due to lack of sleep or change in routine. On warm day, a hot car can turn deadly in minutes. When putting your child in the car place your phone, purse, or shoe in the backseat to remind you when you that you have precious cargo with you. Ticks are more than just a nuisance — they can carry serious diseases that affect both people and pets. Diseases like Lyme disease, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever, can be transmitted through a single tick bite. The best way to prevent these diseases is to prevent tick bites. Avoid wooded and brushy areas with high grass and leaf litter. Check for ticks on you and your pet before heading inside. Find more tips at richlandhealth.org/environmental-health/ticks/
