Mansfield ISD parents, educators, and community members: The 2026 Primaries are happening! Please take just 2 minutes to tell our State House candidates that Texas schools should be measured by more than STAAR testing.

According to Mansfield ISD, "State legislators play a key role in determining how public education operates across Texas. From setting funding formulas to passing safety requirements and accountability standards, these decisions influence what districts like MISD can provide for students and staff.

While the Mansfield ISD School Board governs locally, state policy sets many of the rules we must follow. Understanding this connection helps our community better grasp why engagement at the state level matters."

You can send all of your House District candidates an email at:

Take action now by contacting the candidates in your state House and Senate Districts and tell them Texas students deserve an accountability system that measures more than a test score!

How well do you understand the Texas A–F accountability system for public schools and what recent changes mean for Mansfield ISD?

MISD Future PAC is sharing an upcoming community workshop hosted by Raise Your Hand Texas that will break down how Texas evaluates public schools and what those ratings actually measure.

🗓 Monday, February 9, 2026
⏰ 6:00–7:30 PM
📍 Creekside Church, 5401 E Hwy 287, Midlothian, TX

The event will be attended by both candidates running in House District 96, Democrat Ebony Turner and Republican Ellen Fleischmann, who will join parents and educators for conversations and idea-sharing on public education accountability and policy.

If you are a Mansfield ISD parent who wants to be informed, engaged, and part of the conversation about our schools, this is a great opportunity to attend.

Public education in Texas is at a crossroads, and decisions being made at the Texas State Board of Education directly affect classrooms right here in Mansfield ISD.

Recent discussions around vocabulary lists, required reading, and Social Studies standards go far beyond technical updates. These choices shape how MISD students learn history, understand civic life, and see whose voices and experiences are represented in their education.

Civic engagement means more than paying attention. It means speaking up. When Mansfield ISD families and community members are missing from the public record, decisions that impact our students move forward without local accountability.

We’ve made it easy to take action by sharing sample emails you can send to our State Board of Education member today. Every email matters. Every Mansfield ISD voice matters.

Decisions at the Texas State Board of Education right now will shape how students understand history, civic life, and whose voices matter in our public schools.

Calling Mansfield ISD teachers and parents! The Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) and the Texas Education Agency (TEA) are currently seeking teachers, parents, community members, and subject-matter experts to serve on the Instructional Materials Review and Approval (IMRA) committees.

IMRA members review instructional materials that may be adopted statewide. That means classroom expertise, academic rigor, and real-world experience from communities like Mansfield ISD can directly influence what ends up in Texas classrooms.

Do you care about high-quality, accurate, and age-appropriate instructional materials?

Do you believe educators should have a strong voice in that process?

If so, we strongly encourage you to apply! Applications are open through Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CT.

This is precisely the kind of engagement that strengthens public education and keeps decision-making grounded in classrooms and communities, not politics.

Gov. Abbott’s proposal to eliminate school property taxes would remove 50–55% of Mansfield ISD’s local funding, with no clear plan to replace it. That’s teacher pay, student safety, transportation, and programs—all at risk.

Once candidates make it to Austin, their minds are usually made up. The real leverage is before the primaries. That’s when candidates are listening, when they can still be pressured to take a public, on-the-record stand on how they will protect public schools.

Tax relief matters. So does protecting the schools that built our community and our property values.

➡️ Read the full blog, ask hard questions, and demand clear positions now. Don't wait until after the primaries or in the final days before the November elections.

📣 URGENT: Our Mansfield ISD Teachers & Students Need You NOW! 📣

Parents, teachers, and community members—our public schools are facing a crisis. Since 2019, the state of Texas hasn’t increased funding for our classrooms. That means fewer teachers, closed programs, and lost opportunities for our kids.

But right now, we have a chance to change that. The Texas Legislature is in final negotiations on the state budget—and the House has proposed $9.1 billion in new funding for schools and teacher pay. That’s the bare minimum needed to stop the bleeding and start rebuilding.

🛑 Our kids can't wait.
👩‍🏫 Our teachers deserve better.
📚 Our schools are depending on us.

➡️ Take 20 seconds to tell your lawmakers and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick to fund our schools and pay our teachers.

Your voice matters. Share this. Text it. Email it. Post it. Let’s flood the Capitol with the message: Fully fund public education—NOW.
