Participants will learn how to build and sustain a school garden and incorporate the garden into your curriculum and leave with gardening materials and resources. The cost to attend is $80.

We are receiving an influx of calls in a few parishes following the heavy rains and cooler temperatures over the weekend affecting tomatoes, squash, and other warm‑season vegetables.
The symptoms appeared shortly after this weekend's heavy downpours combined with a decrease in temperatures. Reported damage includes interveinal necrosis (dead tissue between the leaf veins), as shown in the attached photos.
This type of damage is consistent with temporary cold injury following excessive rainfall. The good news is that affected plants should recover on their own as temperatures warm and growing conditions improve.

The Adhikari Food Safety Lab at the LSU AgCenter is offering a free, bilingual farm worker training with farmers and growers in our area. These trainings are hands-on, delivered directly on the farm, and focus on worker health and hygiene, on-farm risk assessment, and practical steps to meet GAPs and FSMA requirements. Each session lasts about 2.5 hours and is offered in both English and Spanish.
