🍀🎃 It’s National 4-H Week! 🎃🍀

Dare County 4-H Kids, we want your help celebrating National 4-H Week by decorating the Dare County 4-H Office! 💚
We’re inviting our 4-H youth and clubs to get creative and help us fill our porch with 4-H spirit, fall fun, and pumpkins! 🎃🍀

🎃 Bring us your carved or painted pumpkins!
Carve or paint a pumpkin and bring it to the Dare County 4-H Office. We’ll display the pumpkins on the steps of the porch facing the road so our community can see all of your creativity!

🍀 Make it 4-H themed!
We would LOVE to see pumpkins that represent:
🐴 Your 4-H club
🍀 Dare County 4-H
🐄 Your favorite 4-H project
🌱 Agriculture
🎨 A 4-H activity or program
🌟 Or anything else that shows your 4-H or Dare County spirit!

Club Challenge: Want to decorate a pumpkin together? Make it club-themed and show everyone what makes your 4-H club special! 💚
This is a great way for us to celebrate National 4-H Week and show our community just how much creativity, talent, and 4-H spirit our Dare County youth have!

Dare County 4-H Has Adopted a Cow!

Dare County 4-H is excited to announce that we have officially adopted a cow through the Discover Dairy Adopt-a-Cow program! Our 4-H members will have the opportunity to follow along throughout the school year, learn more about dairy farming, and get to know our special calf.

The breed of our calf was announced this week, and we are excited to share that our calf is a Jersey! Jerseys are the smallest of the major dairy breeds and are recognized by their fawn-colored coats. They are also known for producing milk that is high in butterfat, which is great for making cheese.

Now that we know our calf is a Jersey, the excitement is building as we get closer to the big day! On October 6, we will officially meet our calf and learn more about the calf and host farm. We will also receive our calf's special Cow Code, which will allow us to follow along with our calf throughout the Adopt-a-Cow experience.

Youth in our community can also join in on the fun! Stop by the Dare County 4-H office to pick up a FREE dairy calf activity packet. Packets include coloring sheets, fun activities, and opportunities to learn more about dairy cows and dairy farming.

We can't wait to meet our new four-legged friend and begin this exciting adventure! Be sure to follow along with Dare County 4-H as we learn about dairy cows, farming, agriculture, and life on a dairy farm.

Starting October 4, a gift of just $4 can put your county on the map and support opportunities for young people through the 4-H Priorities Fund.
