Yesterday, the Mantoloking Police Department, along with the Bay Head Police Department and numerous other law enforcement agencies from Ocean County, gathered at the annual Police Memorial Ceremony at the Ocean County Police Academy to honor the men and women in law enforcement who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

We remember their bravery, dedication, and unwavering commitment to protecting our communities. Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten, and we continue to keep their families and fellow officers in our thoughts and prayers.

🚨 NJ E-Bike Law Reminder 🚨

With just over 2 months until New Jersey’s new e-bike laws are fully enforced, now is the time to make sure you’re informed and compliant.

Starting July 19, 2026, all e-bike regulations will be strictly enforced statewide.

Under the new law, e-bikes are now treated similarly to motor vehicles and require:

✅ Valid driver’s license (or motorized bicycle license)
✅ Registration through NJ MVC
✅ Liability insurance
✅ Helmet (required for ALL riders)
✅ Minimum rider age of 15

This law was enacted to improve safety following a rise in serious accidents and applies to ALL e-bikes, regardless of class.

There is currently a compliance grace period, but after July 19, 2026, enforcement will be strict, and riders who are not in compliance may face fines or penalties.

👉 Take the time now to educate yourself, register your e-bike, and make sure you’re road-ready to avoid any issues.

With Memorial Day fast approaching and the increased popularity of golf carts in our coastal communities, residents are reminded to ensure that their Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs) meet all New Jersey State requirements.

Taking a few moments now to confirm your vehicle is properly registered, insured, and equipped can help you avoid fines or issues as the busy summer season begins.

Stay safe and compliant this season.

CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF SERVICE

This year marks a historic milestone for the Mantoloking Police Department—100 years of dedicated service to our community.

Founded in April 1926 with Officer J. Harrison “Hat” Herbert as Badge #1, the department has grown from a single-officer agency operating out of the local train station into a modern, 10-member police force serving Mantoloking from our Downer Avenue headquarters.

Through a century of change—from Borough Hall’s early days in 1928, to rebuilding after Superstorm Sandy in 2012, and into our current facility completed in 2019—our mission has remained the same: to protect and serve our community with pride and professionalism.

As we honor this 100-year anniversary, we recognize the generations of officers who built and carried forward this legacy of service.

To commemorate this milestone, a special anniversary patch has been created, blending our department’s history with its present-day identity.

Here’s to 100 years of service—and the future ahead.
