Burn Permit Suspension Lifted
Red Bluff – Effective Monday October 25, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. the burn permit suspension in Tehama County and the State Responsibility Areas of Glenn County will be lifted. CAL FIRE Tehama-Glenn Unit Chief Dave Russell is formally cancelling the burn permit suspension and advises that those possessing current and valid agriculture and residential burn permits can now resume burning on permissible burn days. CAL FIRE burn permits will be required until the end of fire season. Agriculture burns must be inspected by CAL FIRE prior to burning until the end of the peak fire season. Inspections may be required for burns other than agriculture burns. This can be verified by contacting your local Air Quality Management District.
Cooler temperatures, higher humidity’s and winter weather have helped to begin to diminish the threat of wildfire. Property owners and residents are asked to use caution while conducting debris or agriculture burns, follow all guidelines provided, and maintain control of the fire at all times. Individuals can be held civilly and/or criminally liable for allowing a fire to escape their control and/or burn onto neighboring property.
Residents wishing to burn MUST verify it is a permissive burn day prior to burning. For burn day information call Tehama County Air Pollution Control District at (530) 527-3717 prior to burning in Tehama County. For residents in Glenn County call Glenn County Air Pollution Control District at (530) 934-6500 or (800) 446-2876 prior to burning.
• Tehama County burn hours for residential burning are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and must be completely out by 5:00 p.m. Burn hours for agricultural orchard waste is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Burn hours for field crops is 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• In Glenn County, the burn hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for residential burning. For agricultural burning of pruning’s and vegetative waste, the burn hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For field crops the burn hours are 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from September 15 through November 30, and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. the remainder of the year. Burn permits are for vegetation burning only.
• For the use of burn barrels in both Tehama and Glenn Counties check with your local Air Pollution Control District for areas that burn barrels are allowed.
• All burn permits are issued annually and can be obtained online at https://burnpermit.fire.ca.gov/.

• Do NOT burn on windy days.

PROCLAMATION
SUSPENDING BURNING PERMITS AND OTHER USES OF OPEN FIRE
May 27, 2021
Due to the extreme menace of destruction by fire to life, improved property, or natural
resources caused by critical fire weather and acute dryness of vegetation; and/or fire
suppression forces being heavily committed to control fires; and, under authority vested in me
by the Director of the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection as per section 4423.1 of the
Public Resources Code, I hereby suspend, except within the incorporated cities, the privileges of
burning by permit and other uses of open fire in the geographic area described as:
ALL STATE RESPONSIBILITY AREA LANDS WITHIN THE COUNTY / COUNTIES OF TEHAMA AND
GLENN except for the communities of Mineral, Childs Meadows, Deer Creek and Mill Creek.
Campfires within organized campgrounds or on private property that are otherwise permitted
will be allowed if the campfire is maintained in such a manner as to prevent its spread to the
wildland.
In accordance with section 4423.2 of the Public Resources Code, state rangers or other
authorized agents of the Director of Forestry and Fire Protection may issue restricted
temporary burning permits whenever it can be shown that burning or use of open fire is
essential for reasons of public health, safety, or welfare.
This order shall become effective at 0001 am on June 1, 2021 and remain in effect until I
formally terminate this proclamation.

RESIDENTIAL BURN PERMITS REQUIRED MAY 1, 2020

RED BLUFF- The Tehama Glenn Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and the Tehama County Fire Department (TCFD) want to remind everyone that burn permits will be required starting Friday May 1, 2020 in the unincorporated areas of Tehama County, except in the Capay Fire District, and will be required until the burn suspension goes into effect. In addition, burn permits are required within the State Responsibility Areas (SRA) of Glenn County. Residents should check with their local fire officials for burning restrictions within the Corning city limits, Capay Fire District, or if they live in portions of Glenn County that are not in the SRA. All residential burning has been banned within the city limits of Red Bluff. Residents who plan on conducting dooryard burning should plan accordingly and have dooryard burning completed before the burn suspension goes in to effect.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Tehama Glenn Unit and the Tehama County Fire
Department is changing the way burn permits will be issued at CAL FIRE and Tehama County Fire Stations. Burn permits may be obtained:

• Online at https://burnpermit.fire.ca.gov/. Applicants can access the website to obtain a burn permit which involves watching a short educational video and submitting an application. The process provides the necessary information needed to conduct the burn safely, while minimizing the chance for fire escape. Permits must be printed, signed, and on hand while burning. Permits are valid for the calendar year in which they are issued and must be reissued annually on or after January 1st of each year.
• Residents without internet access can call the Tehama Glenn Unit Headquarters at (530) 528-5199 or the nearest CAL FIRE or TCFD fire station. Personnel will take down your information and mail you the permit. Permit must be signed to be valid.

• Permits are issued free of charge.

For burn day information call Tehama County Air Pollution Control District at (530) 527-3717 prior to burning in Tehama County. For residents in Glenn County call Glenn County Air Pollution District at (530) 934-6500 or (800) 446-2876 prior to burning.
For
agricultural burning of pruning’s and vegetative waste, the burn hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For field crops the burn hours are 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from September 15
through November 30, and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. the remainder of the year. Burn
permits are for vegetation burning only.
• For the use of burn barrels in Tehama County check with Tehama County Air Pollution
Control District for areas that burn barrels are allowed. Burn barrels are not allowed in Glenn County.

As a reminder, always have a minimum 10 foot clearance down to bare mineral soil around all burn piles, have a shovel and a water source available, and an adult present during burning.
Failure to follow these simple precautions may result in a citation and fines. For further information go to www.readyforwildfire.org .
