Minnesota Sheriffs' Association SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

We are proud to announce that the MSA Board of Directors has established a scholarship fund for the awarding of up to 18 - $2,000 scholarships for this year for law enforcement students. These scholarships are due to the coordinated efforts of the 87 elected Sheriffs of the State of Minnesota.

The MSA gives special recognition to the financial needs of students attending the Peace Officer Skills Course or one of the two- or four-year law enforcement degree programs around the state. “The MSA Board of Directors acknowledges the current challenges in recruiting and greatly appreciates the individuals who decide to serve others through a career in law enforcement. This is one way that we can support that honorable decision,” said Deputy Director Brian Johnson.

Law enforcement remains an incredibly rewarding and important profession! These scholarships give us an opportunity to encourage the next generation of officers and support those who want to serve and protect our communities.

The MSA recognizes the importance of pre-entry training for people considering law enforcement as their career choice. The MSA also acknowledges that some students may need outside help in meeting the costs of such training, even though they excel academically.

The MSA Scholarship Committee, in making its selection of awards, intends to achieve representation from all geographical areas of the state. The scholarship deadline is November 30th, 2026. Awards will be announced on the MSA web page and on social media at the start of 2027. Application forms and a statement of procedures are available at the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office. Scholarships are only available to students currently enrolled in one of the following three categories:

1. Mandated POST Skills Program
2. In their second year of a two-year law enforcement program.
3. In their third or fourth year of a four-year college criminal justice program.

To qualify here in Dodge County, students must be from Dodge and have completed at least one year of the two-year program or two years of a four-year program.

SCAMMER ALERT

We've had a number of calls from citizens who've recieved phone calls today from someone claiming to be from the Dodge County Sheriff's Office and identifying themselves as McCoy. These scammers are posing as deputies from DCSO and telling citizens that they have warrants for failure to appear for a jury trial. With one call they went as far as to send a photo of the warrant.

Law Enforcement will never call or text you to collect money for a warrant - if you have a warrant, we won't call ahead, we'll just show up in person and arrest you! 😎

Please share this post so we can get the word out there. Some of these scammers are very convincing and it seems like everytime these come up someone gets taken for money.

KM LIONS VISIT DCSO Dodge County Sheriff's Chaplains TODAY

KM Lions members Jerry and Rose Harris, along with Clint Patterson, joined our Dodge County Chaplains at their monthly meeting today to present them with a token of the club’s appreciation.

The KM Lions expressed their gratitude for the compassion and support our chaplains provide to individuals and families during times of need throughout the year—and all of us here at DCSO couldn’t agree more! These two organizations, KM Lions and DCSO Chaplains, are two incredible organizations dedicated to serving our community. It is truly an honor to be surrounded by such caring and selfless people.
