Here in Manvel, we are looking pretty good against TS Edouard. We do expect some storms with rain moving through our area. So far, a few of these bands are producing a lot of lightning. So remember:

Did you know that the amazing Manvel Public Library is a cooling center?

While CenterPoint continues replacing poles and working on electrical lines throughout our area, the library is a great place to go and stay cool!

We continue to monitor and provide updates to the Mayor, City Council, City administration and local shareholders to ensure that we remain prepared and vigilant.

But most concerning right now is tomorrow’s heat!

Be safe out there!

Tropical Update – Bertha

Our team at City Hall continues to closely monitor Tropical Storm Bertha.

The latest forecasts from the National Weather Service and NOAA continue to show the storm weakening. While forecast models have slightly shifted over the past 24 hours, nothing at this point suggests a major concern for our community outside of an inch or two of rain.

That said, weather can always change, so we’ll continue monitoring conditions over the next day or two and will provide updates if anything changes.

For now:

* Stay weather aware.

* Make sure your hurricane supplies are stocked and ready.

* Be cautious of rumors or alarming social media posts, rely on trusted sources for information.

One thing that is expected this week is extreme heat, so please remember to stay hydrated, limit time outdoors when possible, and check on neighbors who may be more vulnerable.

It was a great day of building partnerships throughout Brazoria County!

📻 This afternoon Manvel Emergency Management had the opportunity to attend Brazoria County ARES Field Day, where Amateur (HAM) Radio operators demonstrated emergency communications by making contacts across Texas and the United States. As Manvel OEM continues to grow, we’re excited to partner with this outstanding group as they help establish a Manvel Amateur Radio Club. These volunteers will play an important role in supporting emergency communications during local events, incidents and disasters.

A special thank you to David Lira for working with us to make this a reality and your many hours of volunteering.

Rick Broussard, and Nathan Vrubel for your knowledge and support.

And all of Brazoria County ARES for your partnership and hospitality!

🔧 We also had the opportunity to visit DaVinci Maker Labs. Thank you for the tour of your incredible facility and for sharing everything you do to inspire creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning. We’re excited about the potential opportunities to collaborate in the future.

Strong partnerships make for a stronger, more resilient Manvel, and we look forward to continuing to build relationships that benefit our community.
