Please see the attached guidance on Sami’s Law, which amended the Transportation Network Company Safety and Regulatory Act, passed in 2019 after the murder of Samantha Josephson, a student at the University of South Carolina, who mistakenly entered a car she thought was her rideshare.

Sami’s Law explains the identification that “transportation network companies,” or TNCs, are required to issue and that rideshare drivers are required to display on their vehicles. Specifically, TNCs are required to issue reflective and/or illuminated identifying markers to all of their drivers, and drivers must display these markers on the front and rear windows of their vehicle while providing rides. The law also requires all TNCs to issue every driver two credential placards and machine-scannable barcodes, which must be displayed by the driver. These items are unique to the driver and their vehicle to ensure people who use the rideshare can readily identify the car they are entering as the correct one.

The Borough of Manville Department of Public Works would like to remind residents that due to the Juneteenth holiday, Borough offices and Public Works operations will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026.
To ensure there is no interruption in service, Friday's garbage collection will take place one day earlier, on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
Residents who normally receive garbage collection on Fridays are asked to place their containers curbside by 6:00 a.m. on Thursday morning to guarantee pickup.
The Department of Public Works appreciates everyone's cooperation as collection schedules are adjusted for the holiday. Residents are encouraged to place their containers out the night before or no later than 6:00 a.m. Thursday to help crews complete the route safely and efficiently.
The Borough wishes all residents a safe and enjoyable Juneteenth holiday as we honor and celebrate this important day of freedom and remembrance.
